TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the requirement of holding 500,000 baht in a bank account for the DTV visa application in Vientiane, Laos. There is some uncertainty regarding whether having the amount for only one month is sufficient for approval, with some users stating that a longer period, preferably six months, is generally expected. Others have reported successful applications with funds showing only recently, suggesting that the strictness of the requirement may vary or have loosened recently. Additional comments mention different experiences in neighboring countries like Vietnam, indicating that those processes might be less stringent.

HCMC in Vietnam don’t need to 500k for months but they do want to see financial activity in your account if you’re app, ting as a remote worker, they want to see money from your work going in to your account. So you’ll need a few months of that, plus a final balance showing the 500k plus in the account.

Also, if it’s not in Thai baht, then attach a short explanation of the exchange rate on the day you submit it to make it easier for them to see it’s above the threshold

not since 6 months. I had the 500k in October I think on my Wise Account and I showed the 6 months bank statement and I've got approved anyway (application sent 27th January)

so you show them the 6 months bank statement of the account where you had the 500k since October (the wise one) right ?
Julien *********
Exactly yeah and it was okay for me. But it was my main account. Maybe if it's a brand new account with the 500k and nothing before, maybe they will be suspicious. If it's your case, just use your main account since many years and transfer the 500k on it.

yes that’s what I did, I recently transfered the 500 000 bath on my principal personal account, where I receive every month my salary since years. But the money doesn’t appear on my bank statement yet because it get update every 17th of the month 🤦🏼‍♂️..

so you will have to wait for the bank statement until you have the 500k. Just 10 days :)

Oh I see. It's possible Laos has mellowed, now with their new system but equally, if they're basically asking everyone to come in person, then perhaps they haven't. Will be interesting to hear whether this individual is approved or not.

I have bank statement for 6 months, but only 500 000 on my main account since 1 month.

So you mean you have to have 500 000 bath since 6 months ?

I mean my personal account, I have my payslip every month on the last 6 months bank statement, with money going in and out but I didn’t have 500 000 bath until this month only.

ultimately yes 6 months, but I suspect if you have had substantial funds in the account for a long period of time it might work and recently topped it off over 500k. Substantial being at least half. It's your roll of the dice.

Assuming Laos continues to apply the same standards as when they were doing visas in person, it's 3 months. Better to apply in Vietnam, where they don't care how long the 500,000 has been sitting in your account for. Also, it's more convenient as you don't have to pay for the visa in person or come in for an interview.
