Will past TM30 non-compliance affect my future retirement or marriage visa application in Thailand?

Again about the TM30.

I understand even if staying at a friends house, a TM30 has to be done with immigration. So far, so good.

In the past I have never done a TM30 while on visa exempt staying at my girlfriends house (out of ignorance, I simply didn't know). And as a matter of fact I never ran into problems driving around in Thailand. And I travel a lot when I am in Thailand (and I understand when I stay at a hotel, the hotel will do the TM30).

It was written here that if you have not filed a TM30 and then have anything to do with the immigration office (e.g. an extension), then there will be problems (a fine, or whatever).

The question is, will the fact that I (or my girlfriend as the house owner) did not file a TM30 in the past haunt me later should I apply for a retirement or marriage visa in the future? Will or can immigration check my past compliance (or lack thereof) with regard to the TM30? Will I then run into problems applying for a retirement or marriage visa?

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question addresses concerns about the TM30 filing process and its implications for future visa applications in Thailand. The poster is unsure whether the lack of a TM30 filing during past stays at a girlfriend's house could lead to issues when applying for a retirement or marriage visa later. Responses from the community indicate that past non-compliance with TM30 does not have ramifications on future visa applications. It was emphasized that only the property owner is responsible for filing the TM30, and any previously unfiled TM30s do not affect current immigration status once a new TM30 is filed.

I asked my landlord, a westerner, for the TM30 and he said it's not required and he's never done one. Can I be in trouble when extending my visa exemption? Is there an official source that I can point him to?

I was hoping they repelled the TM30 in 2023 but according to this thread it seems to be a thing still.

Cheers for your replies.

No what happened in the past is past, no ramifications at all.

No issues, it's the property owner that files a TM30 NOT the 'alien in residence'.
Paul *******
Generally no issues whatsoever.

I stayed with my girlfriend and family many times visa exempt in the past. No issues at all getting a non O visa.

Which Immigration Office did you use for your Non-O as some don't ask for a TM30?

Quick answer, No.

For a TM30, the past does not exist. Once a TM30 is filed, every TM30 that was filed before that one, or not filed before that one, no longer matters.

It's why when people have trouble getting a TM30 from Airbnb we often recommend checking into a cheap hotel for 1 night and asking for the TM30 from the hotel. That wipes the slate clean and gives them a good TM30 to take to immigration.

While checking into "cheap hotel" is certainly an option. Not really necessary. You can either go in person to local Immig. Office and register TM30. Or, now there is a TM30 App., that is easy to use; and, you can self-register.

There's also a supposed free service that registers you automatically, but can't vouch for it:

most immigration offices do not allow you to file your own TM30 and require the property owner to do it, so you can't just roll up to immigration and get a TM30.

Definitely can in CM (which not coincidentally, is one of the few Offices that care about TM30).

Thank you Sir. That was really quick. Assuming you live in Thailand, you do not seem to sleep. Thanks again and have a good day.
