Hello,

I entered into Thailand phuket on 25th Sept on a Non O Visa based on marriage.

The final stamp in my passport is 23rd December.

A 30 days prior I will apply for my 12 month extension.

I’ve had 400,000 in my thai bank account for several months now and intend to leave it there forever.

My question is I’m going to visit my mother in Australia for a week mid October.

If I got a multi re-entry permit before I visit my mother will that transfer over to my visa extension on December 23rd going forward?

Or is it better to get a single re-entry permit until I get my visa extension?

Thanks in advance πŸ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the validity of a re-entry permit in relation to their upcoming Non-O visa extension in Thailand. They plan to visit Australia for a week and are wondering if a multi re-entry permit will remain valid after their visa extension on December 23rd, or if they should opt for a single re-entry permit. Commenters clarify that any re-entry permit purchased is only valid until the expiration of the visa it is linked to, suggesting that a re-entry permit will not carry over beyond the current visa stamp date.

Have you arranged for your wife to inherit the 400k upon your death? Just wondering if it's possible and not too difficult?

Very simple just add her to the account.

It is not simple, it is impossible. The account must be in your sole name.

if they are legally married, they don't need a Thai Last Will for his bank account deposits

but it does help as it gives almost immediate access to the funds

not even then it gives immediate access to the funds. A Thai Last Will first goes to the court to be approved, this process can take up to 6 months

sure, yes, even the ones done at the Amphur first need a verification by court before the beneficiary can access the funds

You are correct I learned this when I wanted to add my kids in the states as beneficiaries or ( POD) pay on death. You need the Thai will and court.

Any re-entry permit purchased is only valid for as long as the permission stamp you buy it for. So if you purchase a re-entry permit now, it will only be valid until December 23rd. No point in purchasing multiple

I left for work during my initial 3 months and asked this question to the IO that dealt with my re-entry permit. She basically told me the exact thing Brandon is saying here.

just get a single re-entry permit for 1000 THB either at Immigration, or for 1200 THB at the BKK Suvarnabhumi Airport in "Departure 2" right before the exit Immigration desks, to keep the 90 days stay permit alive when you exit Thailand. The re-entry permit will be valid until December 23rd. . . . . . only when you get issued the 12-months extension, it might be worth considering if a 3800 THB multi entry permit fits the purpose. Because if you don't plan to exit and re-enter Thailand during these 12 months more often than 3 times, it saves money buying single re-entry permits prior to each exit
