Hypothetical: I have secured the DTV and live here for a year or so… I then decide to move to another country for a couple of years before moving back to Thailand.. do you think the DTV would still work?

I’ve got no plans that far in advance just curious as 5 years is a long time.. the last 5 years I lived in Bangkok 2019 for 2.5 years and Sydney for 2.5 years before moving back to LTOS!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the validity of the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) after leaving Thailand for an extended period. Most commenters agree that the DTV allows for a 5-year validity period, enabling multiple entries during this time. However, there are nuances regarding how long one can stay out of Thailand without voiding the visa, with some cautioning that specific rules may apply regarding reentry and time limits outside the country. Overall, while many believe the DTV should still function after returning, uncertainty about immigration rules creates concerns.

Based on my experience with the STV, if they remove it then it will be after the initial 5 years

Nobody knows, it's new. Nobody has extended for the first time yet, who knows what's needed to extend.... Not even immigration knows yet what's needed to extend.

Unless something very unusual changes drastically, then yes.. it's a 5 year multi entry visa, you should be able to come and go for the next 5 years.

yep

It will become void if you leave the country for more than the acceptable amount of days.

NOT true. It's valid for 5 full years.

@James *******
so void after the acceptable amount of days. What's "NOT true' about what I said?

I believe you inferred that the visa is void if not used... that's correct.

But those reading your reply may think if not used within a certain number of days following departing Thailand for reentry into Thailand, then the visa becomes void.

The government changes rules all the time. So just keep that in mind. I'm not even looking into the DTV in too much detail right now, because I won't need it until next June, and everything could be different by then.

I have lived in 167 places in four continents according to google in the last twenty years. No problem.

It will, as it has a validity of 5 years in which you're supposed to enter, stay or exit and reentry freely.

Sure it will work, why not
