Will my DTV application be terminated if I enter Thailand before it is approved?

Hey Everyone,

I applied for DTV a few weeks ago (Thai Embassy Munich) and haven’t received it yet.

I am arriving in Thailand tomorrow!

Which is not a problem for now, since I am just staying for 70 Days and can just use tourist visa + go to immigration for extension after 60 days

(Or maybe get an agency, who does this for me?)

BUT do you know if my DTV application is terminated, when I travel to Thailand without it? Because in the application they asked for my flight and day of arrival😬

That would be very sad to just spend the money for nothing

Thanks for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) but hasn't received it before traveling to Thailand. They seek advice on whether entering the country without the visa could result in termination of their application. Comments indicate that technically, one should stay in the country of application until approval, but anecdotal evidence suggests some have successfully navigated similar situations. However, there is significant caution shared regarding current immigration strictness and the risks involved, including potential loss of fees and complications in obtaining a visa if departure occurs during application processing.

Another important piece of advice is right now is the worst time to rely on the old methods you've mentioned. You may struggle to extend the 60 days or even be allowed back in of you border hops at the end of it. They are purging the old methods and many people have been denied entry or deported as a result.

You can apply for a tourist visa online provided your not on Thailand, it's cheap and gives you 3 months which can be extended by 1 I think.

Also make sure you have 20k baht per person at the airport of your entering without a visa.

You need to remain in the country you applied in until the end of the process or youl be rejected for not being in the country of application. So if youve already flew out of the country you've lost your application and the fee. My best advice is fly to a nearby country like Vietnam or Malaysia and apply again there. It will cost you another 10-15k baht and you need to wait there until it's finished. They specifically look for proof that your still in the country you applied in. I had to spend a month in Laos waiting for mine.

If I were you, ide do this...

Enter Thailand on visa exempt entry (60 days), then if you want longer than that fly to a neighbouring country like the ones mentioned above and do it all again and don't leave that country until it's approved.

You can still be accepted by a other embassy if you got rejected by one in another country so your fine to apply again. I would be surprised if they still issue the visa on the old one but if your lucky maybe they won't realise you left the country.

You’ve lost your money - unless you have a flexible fare and can change the date.

You cannot leave the country you've applied at for your visa. That could lead you to a visa cancellation, even if that gets approved in first place. The immigration is getting more strict at the border and if they decide to do the math, you'll be out

If they ask for extra documents, specifically a copy of every page in your passport, including blank pages, then you are in trouble, as has happened to a number of people.

Most people don't expect to be asked that. I'm sure you're the exception, but most don't expect being asked for that specifically. A high number of people do copy all the used pages in their passports, but not all the blank pages too, and that is what is specific in the request.

Is it so hard to wait a bit? It’s better for your record and no risk

You aren't supposed to come to Thailand before the approval of your DTV. You may risk to lose your money.

Technically, it's not allowed. You're to stay in the country you applied till the end of the process.

But there have been people who got away with similar situations, who entered Thailand mid-process, still received the visa and left and re-entered without any issue.

But it doesn't mean everybody will get lucky all the time like that.

Nofuss123 he might be okay since it's all evisa now and they will have already seen his evidence of being in the country of application so might not know that's changed since. Needs to log in and check update on the application on case it's already been approved and needs to keep an eye on his email otherwise.
