How does leaving Thailand affect my DTV application while awaiting approval?

I am in Thailand for 33 days on a tourist visa. I will extend my 60 days to 90 today and I will leave the country in 3 days to Vietnam for 2 weeks and apply for the Muay Thai DTV at the Thai embassy. If I do not receive the visa in less than 2 weeks and then return to Bangkok for a social event before its approval, I will have the stamp to enter Thailand as tourist but will not have the dtv. How will this affect my dtv application? Will it still be approved while I’m in Thailand? I assume I would just have to exit and re-enter for the dtv to activate after approval right?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is currently in Thailand on a tourist visa and plans to extend it before traveling to Vietnam to apply for a Muay Thai DTV visa at the Thai embassy. They are concerned about the potential impact on their DTV application if they return to Thailand before receiving approval. Comments from the community emphasize the importance of remaining in the country where the application is made until it is approved to avoid cancellation risks. Multiple users advise against leaving Vietnam until the DTV visa decision is known, highlighting the potential for application denial or lost application fees if the applicant returns to Thailand prematurely.

Also not sure why you're extending your tourist visa if you're leaving in a couple of days?

Don't leave during the process but 2 weeks is usually more than enough time to know if you have been approved or not

The rule is that you cannot leave the place where you applied until your DTV is approved, or your application will get cancelled.

You check a box agreeing to that when you apply.

Please, if you don't obtain your visa within your deadline, postpone your social event and focus on what's important: your 5-years visa. If you're caught, your application can be rejected.

When you start the visa process, you have to stay until approved to avoid loosing 10.000 baht and be rejected

Be aware that thai consulates, particularly in nearby countries, often want to recheck your location just before issuing the visa or can even call you in for interview. Once you apply stay where you are until the process completes

DON'T LEAVE Vietnam until the decision is known about the DTV visa you will have applied for in Vietnam.

It would be best to wait until after your social event. If you go back to Thailand before the visa is approved and they find out, at best they will tell you to get back to the country you applied from - which happened to an English guy a week or two ago. He had to go all the way back to the UK! At worst they will deny your application and you'll be out of your application fee. It seems you have plenty of time to do this so I don't understand why you want to put yourself into a time crunch.

2 weeks should be enough to get approved in Vietnam. Leaving Vietnam before getting approved risks your DTV application being cancelled or the DTV revoked upon issue.
