Will Immigration accept a TM30 from a week ago?

Will Immigration accept a TM30 from a week ago? We couldn’t finish the process (office closed before we could complete and we had a trip out of town immediately after). Now our new accommodation (Air B&B) is completely unable/ unwilling to help. We might just need to check into another hotel to get through this.

EDIT: CLARIFICATION: we have a week old TM30…while at immigration we were able to get that step completed, but although we went early there were so many people they stopped processing forms in the early afternoon-so we couldn’t compete the entire process and get the extension.

Thanks in advance for advice!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) inquires whether a TM30 form dated a week ago can be accepted by Thai immigration, as their initial submission process was incomplete. Responses reveal that a TM30 must match the current accommodation address for validity. It is noted that hotels are legally obliged to issue a TM30, whereas Airbnb rentals pose complications. Clarifications in the thread suggest that, since the OP is returning to the same immigration office in Chiang Mai, she may proceed with the TM30 from her previous address as long as it pertains to her recent stay.

As OP already got sorted her things, this thread is closed.

However, ditching the AirBnB, booking a legal hotel, getting a TM30—and actually staying in it while you go to immigration—would be a legal solution.

However, I believe that illegal advice and discussions are not allowed in this group.

Normally, all hotels/guest houses are legally obligated to report with a TM30. It's a simple procedure.

However, since AirBnB rentals in Thailand are illegal, it is obviously the reason why the host doesn't want to do a TM30.

Using a TM30 of a place you are currently not residing is also illegal.

If your TM30 from a week ago is from the area you're trying to go to immigration, it's probably fine.

thank you so much😊this is great!

as long as the TM30 receipt is for the same address where you are staying (they are address specific) you will be fine. IF you are staying at another address you won't be fine..
Keven ****
Exactly. Brandon's advice is not good.

If you are using a TM30 of an address you are not currently staying (even if the same area), this is ILLEGAL.

normal advice for someone at an AirBNB that will never be able to get a TM30 is to book a hotel room and get a TM30 from the hotel. What's the difference in using one from last week?
Keven ****
@Brandon ***********
Normal or not, it's still illegal.

@Keven ***
so is AirBNB

You don’t have to register the TM30 within 24 hours of your visit to immigration. You have to register it within 24 hours after you arrive where you’re staying. So, if you’re staying in the area covered by the immigration office you’ll be using, they will want to see a TM30, and you have one, so you’re good.
Biff *******
My take on that was that it was the process at immigration that couldn’t be completed. Hence the mention of a week old TM30

sorry -to clarify while at immigration we were able to get the TM30 completed, but there were so many people they stopped processing forms in the early afternoon-so we couldn’t compete the entire process and get the extension.
James ********
@Biff ******
problem is that they do NOT have a TM 30 on file.

@Shannon ***********
thank you for your clarification.

So now what will you do?

You have moved to new area with new immigration office?

See if you can self file at that office.

Which immigration office will you now be using?

And what kind of extension are you needing to apply for ?

I am going back today to Chiang Mai immigration to get 30 day tourist extension —so same office—after going on a planned 6 day trip to Chiang Saen area. I’d like to stay longer, but will new year. this time will get a visa in advance

@James *******
the original question was if a week old TM30 would still be valid. Which it would. I presumed that meant that they had one. A week ago.
James ********
@Biff ******
then I will let you answer the question. Thank You

What extension are you needing to apply for ?

ok thanks! I came here on a 30 day /visa exempt and just need a 30 day extension. Had requested a 60 day COVID (went a couple days before the deadline, which if I recall correctly was nov 26), but they told us to change to 30 day
Keven ****
@Shannon ***********
You need to get the 30-day extension of the visa exemption before getting COVID extensions. That's what the IO told you.

@Keven ***
they weren’t that specific-just told me I couldn’t get the covid extension and to Change to 30 days-but yes that’s the upshot
