TLDR : Answer Summary
Currently, it is uncertain whether a UK passport holder will require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter Thailand visa-exempt next year. As per the latest updates, travelers can still obtain a 60-day entry upon arrival without additional requirements. However, recent news suggests possible future changes, but nothing is official yet. For entry, travelers do not need to fill out a TM6 entry card; presenting a passport suffices, though retaining a boarding pass is advisable for immigration.
If they go ahead with their plan the yes. But sometimes these things take longer than anticipated.
Even so, I don’t think it will be too onerous.

So do you just fill the card on the plane and get your 60day visa now??? Not been over to Thailand for 12yrs and I’m going in December…. Any help would be nice
As far as I believe you don't get an entry card, can't remember the TM number, anymore. Last time I got one was in 2018, I think. If you turn up with an e-visa you just present passport and e-,visa, then when you get accomodation, wherever, the owner has to fill out a TM 30 online.
they are saying there will be a trial in December with plans to be in place by July next year , it's just a way to introduce a tourist tax as it won't be free
I think the tourist tax will come after 6 months to a year. It solves every problem that people have thrown around about the tourist tax (hitting Thais, hitting visa holders, who will collect it?). Too easy for them to do after a while
