I come Thailand 22 Feb with 2 month tourist visa.

I want to take 1 more month for now and I went at Siratcha immigration at 19 April. I ended PAY FINE 800 bath for not show where I lived before.

The story is, that I was informed from my friends when i came, but I stay in my girlfriend name rent contract and 2 times we tell him go police but he not do. More I must say that he lie to us. He told us he gone but he did not.

So how ended the story?

The day I must take the visa I understand they will not give to me. And I drive 80 kilo, (go, come back and go, come back again) for find him in banglamung hospital for give me the paper and authorise my girlfriend do for him and of course him not pay the fine. But about 3 o clock I finish.

So I have some questions....

2) How someone can do with out contract in his name?

When I go police before (for check if I am ok) with contract in my girlfriend name they tell me that the owner must apply the form with my name.(As I told before i told him again and he say yes but he not do)

So how we do as tourist ?

The time I mention that i go, I had a contract and an other form with my name as a guest (but not an authorization from him) Not up to me that the owner not go. Why I pay the fine?

You have any ideas?

2)After I told to police that next month I go Cambodia for 1 month more and after I will go again immigration for 1 month extension. How I will do for not have the same problem.

They answer me that after come back from Cambodia and in 24 hours only, I must show again my address.

2) I do his job? Next time i go again with the paper prove where i stay and an authorization from him that i do alone. For that police tell me 24 hours?

And if this I do for him, what a tourist must do?

If he done before as an owner what a tourist must do? And how long we have time for show up to police for this address check?

And they give us the small paper for immigration? Same they give me now and go with it to immigration?

3) I know from my friends that price for fine in pattaya is 1600 bath.

Is up to them?

4)Also one friend stay in Bangkok per month, (but hotel make the form). Him not go before for the paper but in immigration give him visa. So he no need go to police for the small paper.

And no fine.

And generally...

5) How a tourist will learn about that new low if Thai authorities not inform?

6) Is this only for us that we want extension?

Because all other tourist not need go immigration. When finish the month or the days they have holiday they are free leave the country.

Or in the airport take them to jail with no court.

Sorry about my joke but I an angry with this. And plus because I can not understand for after what I do.

Thanks and....

Sorry for my English and sorry for the long letter...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user describes their experience trying to extend a tourist visa in Thailand while facing complications due to living at a rented property under their girlfriend's name. They were fined for the landlord's failure to report their residence to immigration. The post raises questions about what tourists should do in similar situations, especially regarding reporting their address, the obligations of landlords, and the implications of doing the reporting themselves. The comments provide insights and suggestions from others who faced similar issues.

You also cannot do the TM30 yourself without written permission (form) from the owner. I also had to do a 160km round trip to get one when I had issue trying to get extension. I wont do that again and dont plan going to immigration again to get extension.
Barry ******
Ask your landlord to do it for you. Then in future to get it updated you can do it yourself.

Why cant he as a tenant fulfill his obligation to address report by handing in a tm28?

Could he not address report by mail?
Roger *******
Thanks Tod i know about the TM30, i use it myselfe as a condo owner. I just thought that not handing in the TM30 only would get the owner in trouble and that the tenant could report address with the TM28.

we are not talking about the TM.28 change of address for but the TM.30 form. That's the one that people in SOME immigration divisions are required to file within 24 hours of them taking up residence if it's not a hotel or a guest house.

That's what the fine was for.

The O/P got off easy because the standard fine is 1600baht.

You are talking about report a alien who stay in a private address. It is not the policy of what ever country to inform a tourist of all the laws in the country. It is you, who have to get information what is needed during your visit. You stayed at a private address and your landlord did not report you, you got fined, Now you want to know if your landlord is willing to pay, just ask him/her when the answer is NO, you paid and there is not much you can do. If you leave Thailand and come back to stay at the same address and want to extend your stay again the best option is to report your address within 24 hours after arriving at the address at your local Immigration Office. Yes, you are doing his/her job but if you want an Extension of Stay without fines again you better do it.

@Tony *******
why you are insulting me.

I ask your help because you know better of course.

And already I thank you for your help.

Buy I am not a confused guy.

This is something new.

And not clear.

For that I wrote to you about the differents between Bangkok pattaya and Siracha.

I try to learn and understand.

Until now I not understand if he did before his job what I must do?

The paper with the address for the 1 month visa extension I take the day i go for visa or i must go before?

For understand better we explain our situations...

And some times keep our opinions about the thinks how work.

You not help people if insulting them.

But even now I thank you for your time and your help.

youre a confused guy so listen to those that know better. you got a visa from the foreign affairs who takes care of things OUTSIDE thailand. the form TM30 is handled by IMMIGRATION who handles things inside the country. Its your job to find out all the necessary things to do to get INTO the country and then what to do when your are IN the country

Thanks for your answer but for the first part I not agree... Or maybe you not understand me.

When I go ask a visa is not the country that inform me what paper I need?

It's about luck what I have with me?

Same when we go to Thai embassy and ask 2 month visa they not tell us what paper they need?

Why not tell also that when we land we must go to police and show where we stay...

It is not something common and we not do.

And about the fine?

It is the policy of the county you spoke before in Siracha take 800 and in pattaya take 1600?

Or in Bangkok the other friend mention different policy?

And what about those not go for extension?

I think nothing happened.

Why us?

So this is not a clear and easy understanding Country policy. The low is for all and everywhere same.

If so they can have it at the embassies all over the world as all the other documents you must have or do to be here.

Thanks again for your help.

Book a hotel/guesthouse/hostel around the time you need to get the extension done.
Ivan ************
I think it is that simple, you just need to be registered somewhere *at the time of your extension*. Or just do the TM30 when you come back if you want to do it by the book. You could also just go into Bangkok to do your extension. They don't care about TM30s for tourist visa extensions at all.

It's not that simple believe me because they have you in their computer
Barry ******
As a tourist they also expect you not to stay in the same place for all your time you spend in Thailand so it's ok.

But you must go the first 3 days to police from the time you come in.
