Hello there, i’m currently on my first 30 day extension after my initial 30 day visa exempt entry. Will there still be 60 day COVID extensions available in December when my current 30 day extension expires ? I’d like to do the 60 day COVID extension when my current one expires but don’t know if it will still be offered in December does anyone know ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the availability of 60-day COVID extensions in December 2021 after their current 30-day extension expires. Comments provide guidance that such extensions must be applied for when there are 45 days or less left on the existing stamp, with a deadline of November 26 for applications. Additionally, there is a suggestion to check with a school for enrolling in a Non-ED visa.

You definitely need to talk to the school about the procedure to enroll and get Non-ED first. They should have the requirements such as the minimum days you should have on your stamp for their process (not only process with the immigration office), what documents should be provided by your side, etc.

You can apply for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 when you have 45 days or less remaining on your existing admitted to stamp (30 days for some immigration offices ).

The last day to apply is November 26th. If you apply for this extension of stay on November 26, the extension of stay will let you stay 60 days past November 26th.

oh I see ! So I can still apply for it during my current 30 day extension even though it isn’t finished yet, but I have to do it by November 26th. Thank you. Because I’ll need to have the 60 days while they process the education visa I’m going to get that I’m applying for on the 15th. so that will give me the time thankfully.

if you’re getting an ED visa, do NOT do anything without your schools permission. There are problems with people going from an 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 to any other type of visas.

ok I’ll talk with them first, but don’t I have to be on a visa to stay in the country while they process my Ed visa ? How else will I be able to stay while it’s processed ? 🥺

You must legally be in the country while they are processing the ED visa. You need some time remaining on your existing "admitted to " stamp for them to issue the in-country ED visa. However, I don't know if they can get an in-country ED visa while you're also holding a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

That's why I'm saying to contact the school and ask them.
