Hi, I came here on a 60-day tourist visa (applied from NY Embassy) and will do my 30-day extension next week here in Chiang Mai - which will keep me til Feb.9th or so.

My question is can I get this extended again ie. special covid extension exemption?

I was planning on moving back to Vietnam in Feb - but with omicron, seems there re-opening is delayed.

So would like to stay in Thailand until things clear up.

If I can't, do you have any other suggested visa's (not interested in Elite Visa at this moment, but maybe in future).

Thank you for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking information regarding the possibility of extending their 60-day tourist visa in Thailand, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the special extension exemptions. They currently plan to extend their stay in Chiang Mai until February 2022 but are uncertain about their options due to changing circumstances and restrictions in neighboring countries like Vietnam. Comments suggest the user consider different visa options, such as the Education Visa, and warn that the COVID extension may not be reliable.

You should have applied for the STV visa as you will be staying longer in Thailand. Too late to get it now as you are already in Thailand. It would have given you 9 months stay.

You have answered your own question. Look over available visa options in Thailand. The Ed Visa is easiest to obtain...but you have dusmissed it.

With Omicron no-one knows if and when neighbor countries will open for entry.

Dont count on the COVID extension to stay in Thailand...its days of issue likely are coming to a close after January 25th..the last day to apply for one...

And we have reports of them being denied...being granted 7 days to leave Thailand as well as a partial granting of days vs the 60 days of recent.

You may wish to consider Cambodia...while its open.

Hey thank you for taking the time to answer me, appreciate it ๐Ÿ™‚. I actually asked about the STV back in July Aug-ish while in NY, but got various answers from this group (some saying it was gonna expire & not be extended, not worth getting it, just do visa on arrival). Policies & information keep changing rapidly.

Anyways, I didn't dismiss the ED Visa, I mentioned "Elite Visa". I'll look it up thx.

thx for heads up on ext's being denied. Will think about what I want to do next.
