im here on a 60 day tourist visa from usa.

i was thinking about trying for the 60 day covid extension now as my 60 days initial visa period is over at end of month. lets say they give me the 60 day covid extension. would i still be able to get my 3o day extension after that. or maybe im better off just going for the 30 days extra now and hope the covid extension is still up and running in february? thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is currently on a 60-day tourist visa from the USA and is considering applying for a 60-day COVID extension but is uncertain if this can be done after obtaining a 30-day extension. It seems that the majority of comments suggest that the best approach is to first apply for the 30-day extension, which can be granted, and then apply for the COVID extension later, as the rules and availability can vary depending on the immigration office and other circumstances.

Your timing with Visa's is perfect to claim the 60 days Covid Extension on the 25th of January. Take your +30 for the TR now and go to immigration around the 25th of January to get the Covid Extension +60 days. (As of now the Covid Extension finishes on the 25th January).

thanks but my 60 days isnt finished until jan 3...........but i think i will get the 30 days now. so it makes it about feb 3..........to be honest i want to go to vietnam or phillipines and come back but im seeing vietnam areas have been decimated and are not open. im really fearful now that if these countries dont open up now. they lose another high season.......catastrophic!!!!!!! so sad. anyways. yes i will go the day before and see if i can get the 60 extra. i still believe the thais have ways to track how rich a person is.

that's what I mean get your extra 30 days on January 3rd. Then go in on 25th January for your 60 days covid extension. (You can get your covid extension a few days early from when your +30 expires). It's confusing I know... But your Visa timings are very good for the Covid Extension on the 25th January.

if no option after that i guess i could go to cambodia and come back. i was hoping Philippines or vietnam would open up by now but it does not look promising, look ing at vietnams tourist areas they look totally decimated and might be better to stay in thailand.

It's not because you are from the "usa" you got different rules.... So just got back in the line and no exemptions... ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๐Ÿ™ˆ

different Thai Immigration Offices and even Officers too are acting in varied ways in granting the COVID extensions.

Only way to know is to apply.

You will get the 30 days first...then ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

there are reports of people getting the 60 day covid extension. but i think they applied like on nov 23, right before the covid extension was extended,,,,,,,,,,,,so i think immigration didnt even know at that moment if the covid extension was going onward after that , and was giving people the 60 days.i will just get the 30 days i guess. im sorry to the bloke who seemed to be angry i was from usa. i stated that as different countries have different rules. he seemed to be angry i was from usa.

take care...you will get at least 30 ...then let's see what 2022 will bring ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™.

i still can apply for the covid extenssion on jan 24. as my 30 day add on will expire on about feb 3,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so i go in on jan 23. that is close enuf. i could try for the covid extension. as stories are that right at the end of the covid extension time. immigration is giving them out. at the ending of it. my point is that lets say covid extension is stopped on jan 24. if people go in on jan 23, immigration might be giving out the last them , readily,,,,,,,,,,,

there is something different with COVID extensions this time around...

Read last four lines of right column...and be prepared to reply if asked ... Why you are still in Thailand?

what does clause say?. i will only be using the covid extension once. so im not abusing it . i would assume they are referring to foriegners who have partaked in the covid extension mulitple times.

@Bill ********
we really do not know what actions Thai immigration will be taking. Remember the purpose of the Covid extension was to help those unable to return to their home country due to COVID.

As you just arrived its obvious flights are available to leave.

Hope you have a Plan B ready if you do plan to stay longterm. Just in case.

i will go to cambodia. thats plan b. i really felt vietnam and phillipines would be opening right now...........lets pray that new variant isnt special. im kind of angry phillipines put the opening on the books then back peddled.

@Bill ********
its good you have a Plan B. Most do not and will be in a bind when denied.

You probably won't be able to get the 60 day covid extension until after you get your 30 day extension first.

If you were able to go direct to the covid extension then no, you could no longer get a 30 day TR visa extension because you are no longer on a tourist visa.
Shayne **********
There's one choice, 30 days first. Hope some other extension is available after.

Why hope?? Got a proper visa as in any other country in the world..
