TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is experiencing issues with their multiple entry retirement visa not being extended upon returning to Thailand. Comments suggest the poster may not actually have a valid visa and might only have an 'extension of stay' stamp. Clarification is sought on whether the poster obtained their visa from a Thai consulate abroad or within Thailand, as the source of the visa affects extension eligibility.

Then again, I could be totally wrong ๐ฎ (shocking as that might be for everyone ๐ ) ,
So let's start out with WHERE did you get this "multi-entry retirement visa"?
Did you buy it from the thai consulate in your country before you came here (where it required a background check, a medical certificate and proof of funds in your country)
OR
did you come here and get it issued inside the country at an immigration office (which would have been a 90 day Non-O visa, followed by a year extension of stay and then a multi-re-entry permit) ?
I would bet that you do NOT have ANY visa at all and if you looked at your stamp you would see it says "extension of stay permitted until" and has a date stamped for how long that extension is good for
AND
I would also bet that you have a multiple re-entry permt (another stamp) that's good for that length of time as well.
That extension and re-entry doesn't get you stamped in for a new year when you come back it gets you stamped in until your current extension expires.
The ONLY visa that gets a year entry stamp on entry is the year-long, multi-entry OA visa you by at the thai consulate in YOUR country before you come here.
