Quick question - I was applying for extension of stay based on employment, done it many times in the past, no problems and always for 1 year. This time, they told me that since my contract expires in September (and so is my WP), they will only extend it till September. So I basically have to pay twice more for this year extension. Is that right? I always though that extension of stay depends on valid work permit and all that anyway. Thanks for reply.
TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for an extension of stay based on employment, the usual practice is for the extension to match the validity of the work permit and employment contract. However, if your work permit and contract expire in September, the immigration office may only grant an extension until that date. This would require you to apply again for a new extension once you have a renewed contract, leading to the need for two separate extension applications within the year.
