I have

NON-B visa

My renewel period is September

My passport expires May this year

Meaning i only received the visa up until old passport validity..

So far not a problem for me..

Due to the long administration of new passports i never stood a chance to get a new passport before September last year...

I was told that when i got the new passport we send it in and it would get updated.

This has been done as well..

My question is why do i only get until May as well in the passport when i paid for a years Visa..

Maybe just tough luck, but need to ask..

Plus will my workpermit not be very much unsynced now as that one is renewed in December directly after i receive my new Visa...

Now it will be 6 months inbetween...

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about their NON-B visa's validity being restricted to the expiration date of their old passport, despite having paid for a full year's visa. It is explained that visa extensions are granted either for the validity of the passport or up to one year. Since the old passport was valid for less than a year, the visa's duration reflects that, and upon receiving a new passport, the existing visa duration does not change.

Ok and on that note I can see we are done with this topic people.

Good luck to the O/P and their new yearly renewal date of May ๐Ÿ™‚

Application fee is 1.900 thb no matter on time given or even denied. So you did not pay for 1 year.

You are not allowed to be inside a foreign country with an invalid passport, which is the reason that the last day of permission to stay inside Thailand is the same as the last day validity passport.

I believe you misunderstand the process.

You get an extension up to a year OR for the validity of the passport (if it's less than a year)

When you get a new passport they will transfer the extension stamps to it

BUT

they will not give you the time you lost because you're the one that applied with a passport valid less than a year ๐Ÿ™

You now have a new expiration date for your extension (which as you say is May) and that will be your yearly extension renewal date from now on.
