Hi everyone! I'm employed and have a WP valid till September 2020. I was on a single entry non B (employment) visa. My employer told me they were not able to get me one year extension in the immigration office and that I have to apply for a new single non B every three months in the embassy outside Thailand. Just been in Kuala Lumpur embassy and received second non B with the note: "applicant is advised to apply for extension of stay permit at the immigration office in Thailand". Before getting non B I also had a couple of tourist visa issued in KL too. Does it mean I would not be able to receive another non B in Kuala Lumpur after this? Anybody has had a similar experience? Would I be able to apply successfully in another embassy? Any piece of advice would be appreciated. Thanks!๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is employed and hold a work permit valid until September 2020, but faces challenges with visa extensions leading to frequent visa runs to the embassy. Confusion arises regarding obtaining consecutive Non-B visas and advice is requested on potential issues related to receiving another Non-B visa at the Kuala Lumpur embassy.

I thought your work permit runs with the visa, this seems strange to me. To extend my work permit I have to first extend the visa

For Example: you have a good employer and he gives you a 2 year contract, you can get a Work Permit valid for 2 years from the Ministry of Labor. BUT your employer does also have a dark side and does not name you as Managing Director of the Company, does not pay tax, sso and the minimum salaries, which leads to no Extension of Stay at Immigration, as employee no 1 year visa at Thai Consulates, so the employee is forced to leave every three months Thailand to apply for a new Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa.
Robert *******
The work permit from the Ministry of Labor can have different valid until dates than the Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa from a Thai Consulate. TOTAL different organizations except they are controlled by the same Government.
Robert *******
These are two different things. The Work Permit from the Ministry of Labor, which allows you to work as described, at the place as described during the validity of this blue booklet.

The Non Immigrant B Visa gives you 90 days of stay inside Thailand. If you before these 90 days ends, make a visit to the Immigration Office you can apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on working inside Thailand.

they all write this on 90 day non b's...getting another from KL will not be a problem...avoid Laos though as at present I beleive they won't issue back to backs
Robert *******
In KL: Why do they bother to write inside a passport on a visa: "applicant is advised to apply for extension of stay permit at the immigration office in Thailand".if it is no problem to go back and apply for a new visa with the same extra text on it?
Robert *******
people are always lucky, Thai Consulates stopped sell visa, but I got one because my smile. Well done
Robert *******
In Laos they still do back to back, but you need the Work Permit
Robert *******
You apply for the Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa, get 90 days of stay and after 60 days you apply for the Extension of Stay based on working inside Thailand. But knowing that employers do not like to pay staff, taxes, insurance, the staff is forced to bent the rules and apply for back to back visa's. If it is just an extra note taped to your passport, it is your choice to visit them again of go to Penang, Kota Bharu or Laos the next time. Or talk to your employer and ask him to sort out his business, so you can get the Extension of Stay.
