Why did I receive a 6-month work permit after getting a Non-B visa instead of the usual one year?

Hi everyone, i have my own company here and recently i got non b and then work permit for 6 month only . Is it normal . Usually it is 3 months then can extend to one year isn’t it . Why 6 month ? Can anyone explain this
