We both received non-immigrant B visa in the Thai Consulate in Europe based on the documents my husband received from the Thai company (I am accompanying him). After we arrived Thailand, the company applied for Work Permit and my husband received it, valid 2 years. Our visa ends beginning of December. Our understanding is that we should now apply for an Extension of Stay before the visa ends. Will we be granted a 1 year Extension of Stay or until his Work Permit expires? Also, the woman who prepared all our visa docs says now that, because his name is not in the company (he doesn't have any shares) he can't get a 1 year Extension of Stay. My husband has been employed by the company, with monthly salary, nothing was said about owning any shares.
Can you please help and clarify for me, so I will know how to talk to the woman?
Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A couple, with a non-immigrant B visa in Thailand, seeks clarification on the process for applying for a 1-year Extension of Stay now that the husband's work permit has been issued. They are uncertain if the extension will be granted until the work permit expires or for the full year. Concerns were raised regarding the husband's eligibility since he does not own shares in the company. Comments suggest that having shares is not a requirement for the extension and that they can apply without needing a Thai representative.
One more question : do we need a Thai person to apply for an Extension of Stay or can we do it by ourselves? What I mean is whether it is legal to do it without any Thai representative preparing the documents for us?
Yes, I know. I get the docs/copies from the company per a list from the local Immigration office. Can we physically go to the Immigration and hand them the necessary documents or should we have a Thai person do it for us, and subsequently pay for her/his services?
Go to the Immigration Office in your area and ask for the hand out with requirements for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on working. Bring that to the lady and start making all the copies, tick the list and than apply.
