So I applied for a 60 day tourist visa to Chiang Mai Thailand even though It is a bit less than 60 days. I input my dates as 27th october 2026 till 21st Dec 2026.

I applied September 1st.

I just got approved today and my visa says its valid from September 14th 2026 till December 12th 2026.

Why would this happen? Will I still have to go to the embassy when I am there to extend through the 21st December. I made no mistakes on the form. Dates were solid. Just confused. Any suggestions?
Answer summary
The visa has been issued with valid entry dates from September 14th to December 12th, allowing the user to enter Thailand during this window to activate a 60-day stay. Upon entry, the 60-day period begins, meaning the user can stay until approximately February 10th, 2027, as long as they enter by December 12th.

People with these laughing emojis on groups like this, these are the kind who know everything in life and probably sit behind their device with one sock on getting off on people who actually need some help.

Give your heads a shake for a moment and have a thought for people who need that little help and advice.

You can apply online for a 60 day tourist visa

Rits Meter Maid No. That’s for visa exempt. If you have a visa then you get the days appropriate to the visa you were given.

Why, in this group in particular, do so many people continue to answer the question even though is has already been answered perfectly well by many people before them?

Skibum4386 Same in all groups now and It did not used to be so bad, years ago you would get a few right answers and then people would not bother - asked and answered. Also ask yourself why so many people answer when they do not know the answer or when they have obviously googled and their answer is AI. It's Facebook's fault, 6 or so years back Facebook introduced badges for top fan / top contributor / group expert, etc. Many people answer an already well answered question because they want some recognition in the form of a badge. Frankly if it's already well answered I don't bother because recognition from FB is not going to change my life.

Tevita Tuki I think he would understand that if you would look at that time stamp on the post most of the ones that answered it early were 3 hours

Your visa is always valid from the day it is issued and valid for 90 days. However, that means you can enter the country at some point within those 90 days. When entering the country, at immigration in the airport, you will be stamped in for 60 days. The date on your stamp you receive at immigration in the airport is the date you have to leave by. So technically, if you arrived on the last day of your visa, Dec 12th, you would receive a stamp that allows you to stay for 60 days (Feb 10th)

It means that you have untill 21 December to enter Thailand to activate your 60 day tourist visa. So you are perfectly fine 👍🏻 no worries

That is just the range of dates you must enter the country. When you enter is when your actual 60 days start.

When they issue the visa it is valid for use for 90 days from that date. As long as you enter Thailand while it remains valid you will get stamped in for 60 days.
