Can I extend my tourist visa in Phuket instead of returning to Bangkok?

I've been staying in Bangkok but decided to go to Phuket for a quick trip and return for my appointment on the 24th to extend my tourist visa. While I was in Phuket, someone said I could get it done here, instead of me rising back to Bangkok, so I did.

It was a bit of a long wait, as not enough workers but no headache. The only thing I'm not sure about is why they did not start my 60 days from the 29th Jan and not 19th Jan.

Buy hey, I'm just happy that I got it all sorted here and stay here in Phuket a bit longer😄

My stamp is valid until end of Feb. Went to Phuket Immigration today (Jan 26) because as it currently stands, no more COVID-19 extensions will be given out after Jan 29.

Office was packed, spent 5 hours waiting for my queue number. After applying I was told my passport would be ready for pickup tomorrow.

While driving home I received a call from the clerk at the office, the same person that had accepted my documents. He asked me why I had applied today, rather than in February.

After explaining, he didn't seem to be aware of the Jan 29 deadline. "Maybe better you come back in February, better for you? More days? Where you stay?" Okay... but I already paid and applied. No refunds.

Tomorrow we'll see until what date the actual immigration officer stamped me to. My friends in Samui received 60 days counting from their expiration date... but what can you do. Will update tomorrow.

@Si***
: I might have lost a full month here. With the chance that this week, they'll happily announce that COVID-19 extensions will remain available, meaning I could have applied in February instead. 😶

It wouldn't surprise me, but fingers crossed.

Here for everyone. Applied 18 January, came back today 26 January. Permitted to stay until 27 March. I did not bother counting. I just let Phuket immigration or each officer do their thing. Just thankful.

Realy? You got 60 days from the date you showed up for under consideration again (counting from January 26)? I would have expected those 60 days would count from the date they put you under consideration (so from January 18). Also, your "under consideration" period seems rather short, too - just one week? Everything is so arbitrary in this country. But yes, be thankful and enjoy!

Maybe they mistaken

Benjamin Hays sometimes officials can do mistakes . You should show the passport in a immigration office when you have a chance . They can fix it , if they mistaken
Keerti ******
Benjamin Hays 60 day starting the 26 Jen should last until 26 March

@Kirti *****
here is mine. Almost the same, but got until 27 March. You're right.

Kirti Lodi the OP applied Jan 19th. Plus 60 days is March 20. There is no mistake.
Keerti ******
Keef Newham it doesn’t metter the day you go . In my understanding they should count from the visa’s expiring day not from the day you visit the immigration center .
Keef ********
Kirti Lodi depends on the office. For Bangkok MTT you'd be wrong.

Because I just did mine again 3rd time of a 60 day extension and EVERY TIME they add 60 days from the day I apply. There are some cases where the mistake IS to add 60 days from a later date but it's rare. Read all the previous reports and you'll see this.

Kirti Lodi, yeah your right, they're supposed to start it from when my last one runs out, not when I go into doing a new one or that what I was told beforehand.

Am I misunderstanding something? Did you say you got an "under consideration" in Bangkok but your final stamp in Phuket, then? I always thought one has to go back to the very same immigration office when under consideration? Please clarify.

@Benjamin *****
Ah. Ok. Thanks. So he completed the first 60-day extension in Bangkok, and then another 60 day extension in Phuket - albeit the latter requiring the "under consideration" loop. So nothing special.

Just one question, if you can reply I am very grateful, did you show them TM30 Or just the hotel order?

yes it well be policy in Phuket although i wouldn't assume, It's not elsewhere

If Phuket has the policy of that Covid extension efective as of application day. It doesn't seem to be a mistake to me.
