TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on how to change their 3-month tourist visa to a Non-B visa now that they have secured a job in Thailand. They hold a Zimbabwean passport and are unable to travel to Laos due to booking issues. Community members suggest that there are no nearby Thai consulates other than in Vientiane, which has a lengthy processing time for Zimbabwean passport holders. They recommend checking for appointment cancellations daily and also clarify that the user's tourist visa allows for a 60-day stay after entry, with an option for a 30-day extension.

Unless I'm mistaken there is no nearby thai consulate other than Vientiane that will allow Zimbabwe passport holders to apply that doesn't have the 4 plus WEEKS processing time while they send it thru the MFA office for approval.

Hanoi/HCMC Vietnam, Phnom Penh Cambodia, Kuala Lumpur (which most likely means Penang and Kota Bharu too) all have Zimbabwe listed as special processing time

I think you're gonna hafta wait it out ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Definitely check the booking appt website for Vientiane every day. Often times appt's get cancelled and show back up as being able to be booked.

And just so you know, while you had a tourist visa VALID for 3 months all that means is you had 3 months to enter thailand on it and when you did you were stamped in for 60 days like everyone on a tourist visa.

CHECK your stamp because if you entered May 30, you should have gotten stamped in until about July 28th. You can take one 30 day extension on that at the immigration office for 1900baht

I really appreciate the information , thank you so much. Does that mean I can go and leave my papers for processing in Malaysia or Cambodia then do a re-entry and possibly an extension? And yes, I have 30+ days left off the 60 days stamp which will run out on July 28.

Anonymous member you could get a re-entry permit on this current 60 day tourist visa stamp you're on, GO apply for the non-B visa at a consulate, come back to thailand, (using the re-entry permit) getting what ever was left on your 60 day entry then take the 30 day extension. Once the visa was approved you go there and get it put into the passport.

Yes that might actually work (y)
