I am far removed from an alarmist, and am not exactly petrified about Corona...but I am still a little bit amazed by the amount of people hell bent on travelling and trying to get into Thailand (family ties excluded) from all over the globe.

Just stay put for a bit. Surely you can't be that desperate for an overseas holiday!!

Just a thought...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the perplexity surrounding individuals still eager to travel to Thailand amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Many commenters express concerns about the risks of traveling during a health crisis, emphasizing that aside from family emergencies, there seems to be little justification for travel, especially with ongoing restrictions and the challenges of quarantine. Some argue for patience, noting that Thailand will still be there in the future, and highlight the current difficulties faced by the country.

No holiday here everything is closed except shopping mall
Danny *******
Australians won’t be travelling anywhere soon as Prime minister Morrison has locked our border up indefinitely. All for an illness that 99.6% of people will survive and even if you have been vaccinated

I’m desperate to go back to Thailand now because you will never see Thailand more beautiful than it is now. No people pollutions , no ugly red light districts , all beaches are pristine again ...

Who wants to be a beautiful beach with so many people and pollution...

I'm here and granted the tourists are gone, but everything else is the same. Except for the closed businesses and increased poverty. The beaches are the same because the garbage comes from other places.

Until you end up sick and in a hospital....

which beach is still dirty/trashy ?

I’ve been watching YouTubers of Thailand.,, everywhere I see is pristine...

@Kal ********
a lot of beaches are clean because hotel staff clean them. No tourists, so why bother? I live 1km from the beach, so I know. The picture of Thailand you are painting is just not a reality.

I've had 2 holidays, booked n paid for before covid, cancelled in the last year. I met a lovely lady online in 2018 and have still not been to see her 😪. I can't wait until I can get there to drive around a bit, see some islands and find a hammock with my name on it to retire to. Hoping for October 🤞🤞. Stay safe

I’m totally surprised at the people that are already here and keep asking if they can go to Pattaya or Hua Hin or Phuket. Everywhere has problems. Stay home for a little while and let things settle down.
Mark ********
I agree. My girlfriend is in Bangkok. I am in the US. We met online months before the virus hit. I am still waiting to go see her. She’s a nurse so I think people who have no inside information about the virus think it’s not a big deal. But the ones who continue to not follow rules keep prolonging the suffering of the ones who are following the rules.
Mark ********
There’s another stupid person who laughs at every comment and never says anything because they can’t think long enough to gather words...I wish we could pay people to follow these people around and laugh at every serious thing they share. Laughing at everything shows exactly who you are, someone no one real wants to be around. I don’t see a THING funny about me being apart from my girlfriend for 2 years, idiot.

Do they know the girls have all returned to their villages?!?!
Stu ***********
Exactly. I have so much shit there. Family, friends, businesses and desires.. but damn ppl, just chill. Thailand is not going anywhere. It’s been the same since WW2. 3 years isn’t going to change it.
Martin ***********
I agree. if everybody would stay in their city, corona would already be finished!
Roland ****
I agree... Why would anyone be that desperate to come to Thailand for a holiday. The bars and restaurants are closed. Phuket and Pattaya are like ghost towns. So unless you have family, work or run a business here, it is crazy. Plus you you the additional expense of being detained in quarantine for 15 day days at the moment....
Carl ********
Be safe ! Stay put. This should all be over in another 3 to 4 years.

@Carl *******
be more optimistic, it's going to be 10-15 years!

My thoughts exactly

Not everyone it on holiday. We're in reverse, trying to get to another country from Thailand, but the borders are closed. We've been working here since 2016. We haven't left Thailand since November 2019. Believe me, this has been no holiday.
Mark ********
Mark Price no

I get that. was is a similar situation last year. I just meant that the amount of people trying to get INTO Thailand at the moment.
Danny *******
@Darryl ********
I don't get it either. If you just want a vacation in a topical place there are a lot of easier choices.
Danny *******
@Mark *******
Just curious, what country are you from that you haven't been able to get back into?
Rogerio ******
I've used Thailand for the past 5 years as a home away from home base, but I've never actually stayed this long (since March last year when it all started) here in country. I'm looking to get out, and looking at Mexico, I don't care if I can't come back again for the next 6 months.

@Danny ******
I'm from the UK, My wife is from Canada. We have jobs waiting for us in Macau. Should have been there last August. I haven't lived in the UK since 1998.
Danny *******
@Mark *******
So, the two of you can't get into Macau because you are UK and Canadian?
Mark ********
@Danny ******
yes, borders are closed to foreigners. Waiting patiently in Thailand on COVID visas. My wife also cannot enter the UK because she doesn't have a UK passport.
Danny *******
@Mark *******
Sounds complicated. Hope it works out soon for you.
Mark ********
@Danny ******
thanks. Believe me there are thousands of people like us at the moment. I have a friend in Bombay, from the UK with Philippine wife and child. They've been in lockdown for a year and can't get out of India. By comparison our lives are pretty good.

I was supposed to come 2 weeks ago but decided to hold out until middle July

I've lost a little bit of money but I'll let Thailand deal with this wave without me possibly being statistic tying up hospital beds that could be for the locals instead. So stay strong Thailand hopefully July would be good because I'm desperate to see my partner I haven't seen in a very long time
Alan *****
@Tony ********
me too ☹️ but stay positive and it will calm down at some point!

@Alan ****
thanks mate I hope so🤞🤞

You are a good person to think like that. I feel for you not being able to see your partner though. It won't be forever...

and your case I wouldn't argue about. I get it. I just see so many people trying to work out "which visa will work for me" just to get there. It perplexes me at the moment.
Tony *********
@Darryl ********
Yes I know it won't be for ever. But either way I have to come in July otherwise I'll have to wait again untill 2022 which i definitely don't want to do
