TLDR : Answer Summary
After receiving a non-B visa that allows a 90-day stay in Thailand, you can apply for a 1-year work permit within 30 days of your admission to stay date. Some areas, like Chiang Mai and Bangkok, allow application up to 45 days prior.

You get 90 days of stay when you enter Thailand. You can apply 30 days prior the Admitted to Stay date for an Extension of Stay. Chang Mai and Bangkok allow 45 days prior.

from 30 days before till the Admitted to Stay date is the window to apply. Going early gives you time to get the documents if you failed to provide all.

Thanks! Is the 30 days the soonest you can apply for extension of stay but you could do this 14 days before the admitted to stay date?? ( I will be away at the 30 day point but back 3 weeks before the admitted until date).
Robert *******
Yes, but be aware you have to be back before these 90 days end and you will get the same date stamped in your passport.
