Update: had to cancel the ed visa had to exit and come back with non immi b work permit

Hi!

Can I convert my NON B Ed visa into Non B Work Permit visa, while staying in the country(thailand), or I have to exit and apply fresh at embassy(my own country) for non b visa/workpremit.

If I can convert by staying in thailand

, how much time is required to convert.

P.s: Documents will be provided by the hiring company.

Thank you in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user initially inquired about converting their ED visa to a Non-B Work Permit visa while remaining in Thailand. However, the responses clarified that such a conversion is not possible. They must cancel their current ED extension, exit the country, and then apply for a Non-B visa from outside Thailand. Detailed steps included needing documentation from their hiring company and having a sufficient number of days left on their current visa to apply for the new visa upon re-entry.

Thank you for the update, glad you were able to get it cancelled, get out, get the Non-b and come back

Congrats, and thanx again for the update

Nope you can't go from an ED visa/extension to an extension based on employment AND you can't get a Non-B inside the country from a visa/extension from another non-immigrant type visa

You need to CANCEL the current ED extension you're on with documentation from the school at the immigration office that issued it. Then you can exit the country, re-enter (either on a free entry stamp if you get those or on a real tourist visa) and after that you can apply for an in country Non-B visa at the immigration office for 2000baht with documentation from your employer.

Most offices require you have a minimum of 15 days left on your current stamp (30 day free entry/60 day tourist entry/30 day extension from one of those) to apply (Chiang Mai requires you have 15 BUSINESS DAYS left on your stamp when you apply)

take documentation from your school to cancel your ED extension AND all the documentation from your employer to apply for the new Employment extension and see what they say. They'll either do it or they won't, you would still cancel your ED extension it's just after that IF they let you, you'd apply for a year extension based on employment with documentation from the employer

this is not true. I changed from extension based on education to extension based on working. However I was at real university
