[Work Permit and Reporting]

Good afternoon. I got my work permit yesterday at Nonthaburi Ministry of Labour office and afterwards I asked the school manager if I have to report every 90 days (I'm not sure about the rules).

She said no that's it now you are ok for a year. So I asked her if she was sure about this, then she came back later and said you have to go back in 2 months and 15 days....

I don't trust them to give me the correct info - can anyone advise on this point please?

Thanks in advance....

TLDR : Answer Summary
After receiving a work permit in Thailand, the original poster was confused about the requirement for 90-day reporting. The school manager initially indicated that reporting was not necessary for a year, but later suggested it was required in 2 months and 15 days. Comments clarified that 90-day reporting is typically needed depending on the visa class held, with a yearly extension of stay needing to be applied for based on employment for accurate reporting timelines. A yearly extension will provide the necessary information about when to report.

PMSL Yes typical of the schools and it comes down from the Director down.

Not much changes as far as the schools are concerned then!!!

The issue of 90 day reporting is neither here nor there for the person who started this thread.

They are on the initial entry stamp of a 90 day visa. When they get their first yearly extension of stay they will get a paper stapled into their passport stating when they do their very first 90 day report.

That paper looks like this

Listen to Tod, he is the only one who knows the correct way

Totally agree.

Maybe, but every time you make a comment it's correct. Well done

I wouldn't go that far, ;)

There are a LOT of posters on this group who know their way around visas, extensions and work permit stuff (y)

I would bet dollars to durian you do NOT have a one year Non-B visa :O You have a yearly extension of stay based on employment. It is not a visa it is an extension of stay. It would most likely look like this in your passport.

I have a non immigrant business one year visa and work permit I only do the 90 days report.

while 90 day reporting is mandatory until we know exactly if he is on a VISA or an extension of stay I can't tell for sure what he needs to do. I say that because you can't be inside the country longer than 90 days on any Non-Immigrant Type visa without getting an extension of stay. And seeing as he just got his work permit I'd say he doesn't have an extension of stay based on employment yet.

First off know that a work permit doesn't let you stay in thailand :O it lets you work here..

What type of visa do you have in your passport now? By that I mean the class (O, ED, B, etc) the date of issue and the date you're stamped in as "admitted until".

Ok lovely that's clear. Thank you so much I appreciate that.

@Gor***
, Then when you have 45 days or less left on that stamp you will need to take paperwork from your school to the immigration office and apply for a yearly extension of stay based on employment.

Once they issue you a yearly extension of stay, they'll staple a paper into your passport stating when your 90 day report is due.

You don't need to do anything about a 90 day reporting until you get your yearly extension of stay.

Apologies - 5th of September

Sorry
@Gor***
, I was asking you. What is the date in the "admitted until" area of the stamp you got when you entered the country?
Tod *********
@Gordon ****
, (y) and you were stamped in for 90 days, right.

Now what you need to do is go to the immigration office with paperwork from your place of employment and apply for a yearly extension of stay. You needed the work permit to be able to do that.

They will stamp an extension into your passport allowing you to stay for a year. It will cost 1900baht.
