Has anyone applied for the DTV visa while being in South Korea, via either the remote worker or soft power route? If so, I'm curious what documents they require and how long the processing time would be. I'm a resident in Korea if that matters and if I understand correctly, it's required to stay in the country during the application process.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) application can be processed from South Korea. It is advised that applicants stay in South Korea during the application process. Processing time is currently reported to be at least a month, according to the embassy's website. Additionally, having an Alien Registration Card (ARC) is mentioned as relevant for residents applying.

Curious about this as well. Will be in Korea soon and keen to hear from anyone who has done it.

Yes, and yes. By resident you mean you have an ARC, right?

They require your ARC back and front, a record of entry and exits issued by the 주민센터 or Immigration, and a bank statement showing your past 3 months balance, where the final balance must be over 500K baht, which is around 20M won.

thank you for the info! Should the bank statement be an official one from the bank or do screenshots suffice? Company letter will be straightforward for me to get.

The bank statement must be one issued from bank itself in English. You need to visit any branch office. Letter you need to scan or take photos of it to make it a PDF. If possible, the letter should be addressed to the Thai Embassy in Seoul.

I'm applying as a remote worker, so I asked my Korean company a certificate stating I'm allowed to work remotely from anywhere, as well as my average monthly salary. I also run a business here, but I'm not even mentioning it as I'd think it'll be easier and more straightforward using they company letter, as they're a very well known big company.

Currently, South Korea takes at least a month to process, according to the embassy's website.

That's what the embassy website says, but usually is much faster. However, based on my experience, it seems they do visa works only on Wednesday mornings. So depending on when you send the application, it might take 1 week for the revision, and if they ask more documents, then 1 more week and so.

I see. Did you already receive a request for additional documents after submitting your visa application? If so, could you tell me how many days it took for them to ask for the additional documents? I'm currently considering whether I should change my flight because of the one-month processing time mentioned🥹 Thank you!

I will be applying for the DTV on the 26th. So far, I first applied for a tourism visa (I need one even to visit, I'm not Korean). I first applied on a Sunday. Then, next Wed. they asked me to upload some documents. I did that same day on the evening, and they checked them and approved the visa on the next week Wednesday. However I do know some Korean nationals who have got their DTV approved within a day or two (my guess is they applied on a Monday or so). Reportedly, it's faster if you upload everything at once. I don't know which subdivision are you applying for, but, for example, if you it as a freelancer, submitting a link for your online portafolio (or offline, depending on what you do) helps a lot.

I applied as a remote worker for a Korean company, and I submitted my application last week, but I haven't received any response yet. However, I think I'll wait a bit longer before change my flight. This has been very helpful. Thank you!

thank you for the info. That's quite a long wait compared to some embassies where processing takes a few days.
