Who is responsible for the transfer fees when sending 65,000 THB monthly?

I repeated my question for those chosing 65,000 THB a month method. Who pays the transfer fee? Could well be 1,000 THB for each transfer, the destination gets a tad less than 65,000 THB but enough to ruin the round sum of 65,000 THB.

I am sending 22,000 THB yearly for the building maintenance of our condo. For that amount I have to add 500 THB atop. For 65,000 THB may well be more.

65,000 THB monthly transfer does not pop up just like that. There are fees.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation centers around the need to ensure that when transferring 65,000 THB monthly to a Thai bank account for visa purposes, one must account for any potential transfer fees. Contributors emphasize that it is prudent to transfer slightly more than the minimum required amount to cover these fees effectively, ensuring that the net amount received in the Thai bank account remains above the required threshold. Several individuals recommend using services like Wise for lower transfer costs and suggest adding a cushion to the transfer to prevent falling short due to fees.

he thinks, thai government should pay for his fee to transfer his money to Thailand. 🤣 even he said 500 Thb for a month transfer fee, after 12 months, it will be 6000 THB. So he can live with this for half month in Thailand. What a cheap Charie is he??? 🤣🤣🤣Actually I can not blame on Thai immigrations and their stupid actions against foreigners. because there are so many stupid foreigners in Thailand, who are far behind of the common sense like the Author here.

Morons like you see 65,000 THB fly from overseas over to Thai for free. Nobody mentioned the fees, they even went after those who have 800K THB sitting in a Thai bank with no interest.

people like us recognize that we have to ensure the correct amount hits the bank account, regardless of exchange rates and fees.

You still haven't answered my question, who pays for it?

Jim, seriously take an invoice to immigration, highlighting how much you've spent, the exchange rate and how much you've lost.

Im sure they will pay.

Or you can do like the rest of us and accept the costs of international bank transfers as a negative side to living in a country with a cheaper cost of living.

And chose your timing to transfer that you offset the fees with an improved exchange rate ( like i do) but im not sending
*****
, im sending 450,000 whenever I think it's beneficial to me.

Or as my old boss used to say, suck it up buttercup.

he thinks or dreams, that he is invited by Thailand as VVIP. so he accepted this generously for Thailand, but he see that there is fee every month, and he thinks why I have to pay for it?? because I am the VVIP and invited by Thai government. So why i pay this by myself??? Thailand must pay for it!! I am the VVIP in Thailand!! I generously transfer so much money already 65,000 THB!!! a month !!!so much money to Thailand!!! Thailand must thank me!! But I pay the fee??? Why???? his thinking process goes like this. So funny man🤣

wise always puts the transfer fee on top of the amount that is to be sent. if I tell them I want $65,000 baht to arrive in my account then they add the fee on top of the $65,000 baht. The same thing happened with the swift transfer. You specify the amount that you want to have arrive in the designated account.

There we are. 65,000 THB do not pop out of the blue. Someone has to pay that fee, 12 times a year.

My bank (Japan) sends Japanese Yen (I calculate roughly + 1) what the amount is and Thai bank does their calculation.

As I said, above certain amount with my bank, SWIFT transfer is free.

So is their ATM card. No fee (there is 250 THB) but refunded.

Australia is near cashless society, my daughter buys ice cream cone or snacks from vending machines, minor money, no currency markup.

I tried that in Bangkok, same thing, street vendors accept my card. 50THB is calculated as that day Japanese currency exchange, not Thai rate.

the bottom line is 65,000 or more has to appear on your Thai bank statement. So you need to ensure that when you send, you send enough that 65,000+ will appear AFTER any fees.

Sometimes with "free" SWIFT, the trick is they give you a bad exchange rate. Most of the way banks make money on international transfers is the exchange rate, not the fees, the fees are small comparatively. So when comparing you need to compare how much THB you get at the end for a given amount of money in.

Usually with SWIFT transfers even if "free" on your end, the Thai bank will take 0.25% min 200 max 500 receiving fee, so you would have to add this at least.

Wise will give you about the most competitive rate but will also guarantee an exact amount into your Thai account. If you say 65,000 in Wise, that is what shows up in the account, exactly. No 200-500 fee. They charge fees but these fees are best compared to the bank's exchange rate spread, and they are usually lower.

Some banks can be competitive with SWIFT transfers. It depends on the currency too, for example Thai banks give good rates for USD and some regional currencies like MYR so they can be competitive in those currencies. Usually though Wise is cheaper.

Why are you trying to transfer exactly 65,000฿? The 65k is a minimum. You can transfer more than 65k to meet the monthly requirement.

Yes, that is it. Over 12 months transfers, it amounts to some significant money, only that extra could make you live and eat in Thai half a month.

it's very low. Well under 1%. For USD to send 65,000 THB Wise charge 0.68%, or $13.79. That's $165/year, or 5,300 THB. I think you need to see that as a "cost of doing business".

I would give you a kiss for your post.

The only way to fcuk a bank is not to have anything to do with them.

I bought my properties in Sydney, Bangkok, Japan, cash, no bank.

Now, I have to deal with the banks in Thai, minor money but still.

They usually add the transfer fee on top of the cost. I did once do a transfer of 65,000 and it ended up being 65,000.25 baht. So now I add extra to the 65k just in case the transaction takes off .25 or something wonky.

Whatever I send, from Japan, no fee, there are funds in my bank enough to zero any transfer fees.

Using my Japan bank ATM, there is a fee 250THB and I get that refunded.

you need to check the exchange rate being used for the JPY-THB conversion. It could be good or could be bad that's where they are making their money.

i am retired and I send 65k baht per month directly to my Thai bank account via Wise from Australia. I always put 65k as the transfer then they make the conversion including the fee. It always works out just slightly better the the exchange rate at a booth for cash. The fee is around $20 aud and that is about 420 baht. Comparing that to using a bank transfer i come out well in front, no one beats Wise after fees.

it’s very simple you send ฿65,000 plus the cost of the transfer fee. What’s so difficult to understand. If the transfer fee is bothering you that much just scraped together your 800,000 and make one transfer and then be done with it.

Overshoot the amount to make sure all fees get paid and you still have above 65k on the other end of it.

Or, use something like Wise. If you use Wise you might need to contact the bank Wise deals with to prove that your transfers are international.

I believe that Wise now has an option when it asks you why are you sending this money? There is an option at the very bottom for applying for long-term visa or retirement or something like that but if you select that option, they show it as a foreign transfer.

doesn't always show as a foreign transfer. I use wise and always us "Funds for long term stay in Thailand". Bangkok Bank does not show as foreign transfer because the funds are routed through Kasikorn Bank. So I opened an account with then about two months ago and does not show as a foreign transfer with them either.

You need to show the 65k baht minimum in your thai bank account net of any fees you might incur. It's pretty unwise to try and cut it so fine anyway
