65k baht deposit…… for the people using this method instead of the 800k baht. How are you transferring the 65k per month? I have heard if I use Wise, the ACH may not be accepted as proof the funds came from outside of Thailand. Are you using wire transfers every month?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses methods for transferring 65,000 Baht monthly to meet visa requirements in Thailand. Various users share their experiences using different services like Wise and Remitly for international transfers, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the transfer is categorized properly for visa purposes. Some suggest using Bangkok Bank in conjunction with Wise for better documentation. It is noted that the monthly transfer method cannot be used for the first extension of the visa.

Is this your first extension or are you switching from banked funds method to monthly funds method? In short you can't use the monthly method for your first extension.

You're getting a lower exchange rate compared to when using for example Wise.

In the long run it matters. Just do the math. 60 transfers over 5 years, and I've been here way longer than that.

cool. So we both get paid by dfas. I will have to look into having the direct deposit sent there. Was it difficult? Did you do it yourself using the mypay system?

Only Bangkok bank has a US routing number. The other banks use a SWIFT code. On MyPay the last time I checked, the interface was routing number and account number.

If you don’t already have a Bangkok Bank account, then when setting up the account don’t tell them that the account will be used for a government direct deposit. The bank will shut down electronic features and require you to get money in person.

I have my U.S. Social Security payment deposited in my Thai bank account every month, which satisfies the 65,000 baht. It never fails to show up the 3rd of every month.

I use WISE every month. There is a drop down menu for the purpose of the transfer, and the one to choose is "Funds for Long-Term Stay in Thailand", and it shows up as a FTT, or International Transfer.

thank you! I have used wise many times previously. Although never sending funds to Thailand. I have never seen that drop-down menu. I suppose either I haven’t noticed it or perhaps other countries don’t have the drop-down menu. But this is good information I appreciate it.

Use Wise in conjunction with Bangkok Bank. This way the transfer always shows up as international transfer when you select Funds for longstay in Thailand reason

the fees are only one part of the equation. The exchange rate is where many transfer services make their money.

as long as you select the correct reason, the method of the foreign funds transfer doesn't matter. Choose "long term stay"

If it shows up as international/foreign when using "Funds for long term stay in Thailand" depends on the receiving bank, meaning it's NOT always.
