Can I use Wise for the 65k monthly deposit to meet my Thailand visa requirements?

Hey all. So I've just got my 2nd non-o extension and want to start the 65k deposit a month process instead of the 800k.

I spoke to an agent who said I need to get a credit advice from my bank to state the transfers every month are from outside Thailand.

I transfer with wise and she couldn't advise if that's ok or not so just wanted to check if anyone has or is currently doing this through wise and not had a issue with this process and if so. How do you go about resolving it.

Cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat seeking to switch from the traditional 800k baht deposit to the 65k baht monthly transfer for their Thailand visa extension has raised questions about using Wise for these international transfers. Several users shared their experiences and advice regarding the process, including obtaining a credit advice from the bank to confirm transfers originate from outside Thailand, and ensuring transactions are classified correctly to facilitate the visa renewal process. Discussions also emphasized the importance of establishing a track record of 12 months of transfers before applying for the visa extension. While some have successfully used Wise for this purpose, caution was advised about potential complications with immigration offices and maintaining the required balance in Thai bank accounts.

Is it possible to set up 65k baht monthly automatic transfers from Wise to a Thai bank to meet the visa requirements?
Robert ********
Get a Thai statement and you see if it’s ok.

Sending from Wise to my kasikorn account explicitly shows “foreign” but only in Thai, not in English version.

I transfer monthly to Bangkok Bank from Wise and the transactions are flagged as FTT ( foreign telegraph transaction ).

Start last April and will submit extension application nect month based on the 65k per month. Yet to see if it will work out.

I intend to submit bank verified statements for the tear in addition to the bank book and monthly pension documentation.

I also have the 800k sitting in a separate account in case this does to work

If you've just got a new extension it is too late to start your 65k international transfers as you need at least 12 months of deposits at the time of your new extension application. Your only hope is that your Embassy still does the income affidavit.

it's for next year mate

@Brown *******
Yes, start now it's too late, you should already have at least 2 65k deposits

@Graham *****
seriously? Why 14 months?
Graham ******
@Brown *******
because you usually apply for a new extension with 2 months left on the current one

@Graham *****
ok. But that's not essential to do it that far a head though. I just did my extension yesterday and put 80k in at the start of this month.
Graham ******
@Brown *******
ok but the OP has said he has started his extension so it is less than 12 months to his next application so he needs a 65k deposit for May to be able to apply for a new extension late April/early May next year

exactly which was done at the start of may

I do it 2-3 days before the end (for 11 years now).

I asked Wise to Tag My Account as always needing transfers tagged as international or ftt. I also use long term stay in Thailand as reason for transfer. I transfer to Bangkok Bank and for 16 months there has been no issue. Both my banking app and bank book show ftt transfers. Transfers to other banks were hit and miss. Swift transfers resulted in my uk current account being closed!

Remember your

0 baht for the rest of the year. This is to meet the requirements of your current extension. Once you have the 12 monthly International transfers to your thai bank you can apply for your next extension using them and release the other

0 baht. I have just done it and the only complication was that they wanted my uk bank statements to prove where the transfers had come from. It took over an hour for them to check payments out matched payments in. They did not not ask for Wise transfer documents. I also had to provide a copy of my bank book with a transaction on the day which I got from the bank. Nothing else was required from the bank as they accepted the statements I printed out myself ordered from the banking app.

It all went very smoothly but some offices do not accept monthly transfers so make sure you check yours does. I hope that helps and good luck.

I was talking about Krungsri and Krungthai. Wise have a connection with three Thailand banks BB, Kasikorn and one other I believe it is SCB.

great info. Thank you

I have not done that but I do have an Aust$ account at Bangkok bank into which I transfer A$ from my pension.

Maybe doable

Do you currently have 800k in your thai bank account or are you using an agent to provide that?
Brown ********

@John *********
I had to use an agent this time because I stupidly forgot a automatic payment that took my account below 400k and know just one transaction is enough to ruin it to do ourselves. But I plan to deposit 65k plus every month from now on so that's why I want to get the information to be ready next year. Cheers
John **********
@Brown *******
if you used an agent to supply the funds this year it is highly unlikely you will be able to switch to monthly income next year as you won't have met the terms of the current year. They check the current year to ensure you met all the terms of the extension for this year, but if you had 800k baht in your account at the time the extension, kept it there for 3 full months after the extension was granted and never dropped below 400k for the remainder of the year you should be OK to move to monthly income provided you can also show 12 full calendar months of International transfers of a minimum of 65k baht at the time you apply for the next extension. But bear in mind if the agent used some immigration office in the back of nowhere to get your extension your local office may not want to touch it regardless

oh shoot. That's bad news. I thought the 12 month 65k starting from the first month was enough. Ok I'll use the 800k for next year and then move to the 65k from there. You just saved me a 💩 fight so thank you
Greg *********
Just transfer with wise and under reason, choose funds for long stay in Thailand and it will show as an international transfer on your bank statement.
Jordee ******
@Greg ********
Correct, that's what I've been doing for years using two ressons. I send money to my family or sometimes for a long stay in Thailand.

It’s likely your embassy won’t confirm this income and therefore immigration won’t accept it. YMMV

the embassy isn't required in this situation

Will likely work, but it's hard to beat that 800k all but guaranteeing your stay here will be trouble free. One glitch in the system and you got problems..

@Daniel ******
I'm aware of that so that's why I'm asking

I know Kasikorn and Bangkok will show oversea transfers. Make sure to select correct reason for sending money.

Just pondering that that same question myself.
