What are the requirements for maintaining the 800K baht for a retirement visa in Thailand regarding monthly deposits?

Ive been sending the 65KTHB was required monthly (from US) in order to get the 800K bunked back after the first year - which cycles around mid-January 2025.

It sure seems like many people have written to be incoming the same day every month or very close (and once it was 5 days from that) or very likely rejected - ie I wouldn’t be able to drop the requirement of keeping 800K after a year - is that true?

Also that they want to see it as looking like a pension amount - regularly deposited and sent out - and sometimes I put it in in several deposits the same day (like 35K + 10K + 20K) simply because Wise wouldn’t allow the whole 65K to go through at once except several days later.

So that also makes me wonder about the likelihood of them making me keep the 800K in another year

TLDR : Answer Summary
The general consensus among expats is that while it is ideal to have a consistent monthly transfer of 65,000 THB for visa requirements, it is not strictly necessary for these transfers to occur on the same day each month. Most immigration offices accept proof of transferring a total of 65K THB from multiple deposits within the same calendar month. However, some offices may prefer if the amounts are transferred on consistent dates, potentially for ease of processing. It's advisable to check with your specific local immigration office for their exact requirements and be prepared with documentation showing regular transfers.

In Prachuap Khiri Khan they highlighted this and asked me (politely) to make sure it's as close as possible to the same date each month (saves them scouring through statements if they're busy I guess) - but still got it none the less. I imagine they would be unimpressed if it was made up by several smaller amounts

not sure that's quite right - I heard from a UK citizen that one of his transfers were delayed a couple of days (because of the bank) and his renewal was rejected because of no payment that month. They would not accept they could see 2 payments the following month. But again - each office their own rules more or less

my payments have varied widely as to the day of the month, but I've never had a month with no payment. Yes, that would probably create a problem in many offices.

My experience in Issan. No one is interested in verifying your deposits they simple want to see 800k in the bank for the amount of time before and after you apply or extend. Good luck

I don’t think that was his issue. He wants to convert to the 65K per month income method and has questions relating to that.

so did I. And my experience was that immigration was not interested proceeding that way. Weather language barriers or other reasons they saw 800k in the bank for the required time and did not want to bother verifying 65k a month.

I think most offices would prefer not to have to add it up. Some offices want the funds to be from some kind of pension. If it comes a few days off from one month to the next, just say it was a bank holiday, or the government sent it to the wrong place, or whatever.

Personally, I've varied the deposit dates wildly and have gotten no grief in my particular office, as long as it's 65k every month.

I live in Chiang Mai and have often met the 65K requirement by transferring various amounts that total 65K during the month. It is never been an issue. Whether you transfer everything out one day or on several different dates differing each month has also never been an issue here.

Check with your local immigration office for their detailed requirements, but there is no general rule on funds being transferred on the same day every month.

Some offices require you to transfer 65K at once per month, most offices accept monthly transfers "total" of 65K baht, like you said "35K + 10K + 20K.

If you can provide 12 times of monthly transfers of 65K baht as your local office requirements, you can switch.

I used to have 2 pension payments, one on the same day, one on a 28 day cycle. It was never a problem in Chiang Mai

I don't know about the "same day" thing. Bangkok don't worry. I've had deposits on the 1st of the month, right through to 20th. The criteria is 65k each calendar month

agree with Ellie. However if the ฿65k is transferred in each calender month in multiple transfers then that satisfies the retirement extension.
