What do I need to apply for a Non-O marriage visa at the Savannakhet consulate in Thailand?

Hello,

Later this year I will need to apply for a Non-B marriage visa. I am currently in Thailand on an extension of that visa type but will not meet the financial requirements at the moment to extend it within the country again.

From reading other posts on this page, Savannakhet does not require proof of funds and seems like the easiest place to go for someone already in Thailand, but please correct me if I am mistaken.

On their website, the Thai consulate asks for "A copy of Thai House registration." What does this mean? I am not the owner of the house I live in, however I can provide the rental agreement, the owner's documents including the housebook, and my TM30 is up-to-date if that is of any relevance. Please advise.

Also, just to be sure, can I submit the documents/copies in Thai?

Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on applying for a Non-O marriage visa, currently on an extension of that visa type but unable to meet the financial requirements for an extension in Thailand. They inquire about the requirements at the Savannakhet consulate, specifically regarding proof of funds, house registration, and document submission in Thai. Comments clarify that there's no Non-B marriage visa, only the Non-O for spouses, the house registration refers to the Thai spouse's property, and that forms can be submitted in Thai or English.

I returned from Savannakhet 2 weeks ago and received the Multi Entry Non-O. I was not asked for the KorRor2, nor the letter from my wife. I have been asked for this letter in the past from the consulate in Los Angeles. It was sufficient for my wife to state that we were still married and asking that this visa be granted to me.

don't confuse the different requirements that different consulates have for the same visa. What they asked for or accepted in the US has nothing to do with the requirements at Savannakhet..

BUT glad you got the visa

pretty sure I did not confuse the requirements. I simply stated what was NOT required in Savannakhet. And also, what was asked for by the Los Angeles consulate. And I hope the OP gets the visa he is trying to get in Laos.

@Manuel ******
and I meant no disrespect to or towards you only pointed out that it's totally irrelevant what one consulate versus another wants to issue the same visa. Each consulate is free to set their own requirements, It's one of the reasons people USE the consulate at Savannakhet, the requirements are low and there's no proof of funds.

no worries at all. Just trying to help the OP, since I have been to that consulate recently and applied for and received the same visa he is trying to obtain.

@Manuel ******
yep, that's a definitely 'user friendly' consulate for that year-long, multi-entry Non-O based on marriage to a thai ๐Ÿ™‚

@Manuel ******
, were you with your wife at Savannakhet or you went to apply for a Non-O multiple visa all by yourself?

@Ellie ******
my wife was not with me at the consulate when I applied.

There is no Non-B based on "marriage". You could mean either Non-B for business, teaching, or employment but you seem to mean Non-O based on a spouse to a Thai national.

You can apply for single or multiple entry Non-O spouse to a Thai national at Savannakhet without proof of funds.

House registration (Or house book/blue book listing) is of your Thai spouse, not yours.

You can fill out the form in English or Thai.

Thanks Ellie and Tod for the detailed list. Please could you advise on what the handwritten letter should say (just generally)? It is not mentioned in the requirements on the website.

@Kieran ********
they seemed to have stopped asking for that handwritten letter anymore at Savannakhet.

, A letter stating she (Thai ID number, dob, name) got married on xxx date and she requests them (consulate name) to issue you (passport number, dob, name) a Non-O.

Thanks for your response. Yes, it was a typo. I meant Non-O.

My wife's house registration is her family's address where she is originally from, but that is not the address we live at now. Will a discrepancy between my address and the address on her documents cause any problems?
Ellie *******
@Kieran ********
, wouldn't be a problem. Her house registration is a supporting document for proving her Thai ID. Doesn't have to be the same address as the place you are currently living

For a Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai at the Royal Thai Consulate-Genral in Savannakhet you may need:

- The original rose bordered marriage certificate (Kor Ror 3)

- The original hand written letter from your Thai wife addressed to the consulate

- 2 passport sized photos

- Application form (Savannakhet specific)

- Application fee 5000 baht/multiple entry visa or 2000 baht/single entry visa.

copies of (both side if original is):

- The rose bordered marriage certificate Kor Ror 3

- The Kor Ror 2

- Your thai spouse's Thai ID card

- Thai spouse's house book listing

- Data page of your passport

- Laos visa & entry stamp

Your Thai spouse signs the copies with their name on them, and you sign the copies with your name on it

Both of you need sign the marriage certificate copies

(Thanks Tod for these detailed information)

May I clarify, what does the letter from Thai wife need to say?
