TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about which immigration office to attend for extending their 90-day tourist visa and mentions prior experience at the Chaeng Wattana office. Comments suggest the Muang Thong Thani (MTT) immigration office in Bangkok is the correct location for the extension. Additionally, advice regarding possible COVID-related extensions and the discrepancies in procedures at different immigration offices are provided.

UPDATE from MTT, we did have several people who entered on a 60 day tourist visa or a 45 day visa exempt entry stamp go to MTT and ask for the 60 day covid extension rather than the regular 30 day extension. Three were told earlier last week they couldn't do it and had to get the 30 day regular extension FIRST and then if covid extensions were still available after that ran down they could apply

BUT

This week a couple people were told "okay you can apply for the covid extension BUT it will start from the date you apply" (meaning you lose any time you have left on your current stamp) and you will get a 2 week under consideration stamp and have to come back to get the 60 day extension

OR

you can get the 30 day extension now and see what's what when that runs out

I have a TR visa and went to the immigration office at Si Racha today for extension. At first, they asked me if I want 30 or 60 days extension. When I asked for 60 days, they gave more docs to fill up. I also need to submit TM30. When I completed all docs, they said I can only get 30 days extension, don’t need extra papers and I won’t be able to apply for covid extension and have to go back to my country after 30 days 😰

whether you can or can't get a covid extension from a tourist visa you entered recently on is TOTALLY up to the office you use. As you found out you used an office that won't let you get it.

You got the 30 day extension, the covid extensions are available until March 30th, SO before your current stamp runs out GO to the immigration office and apply for a covid extension

If you entered on a tourist visa (that you bought from a thai consulate before you came here and were stamped in for 60 days) in Bangkok you got to the Muang Thong Thani immigration office location.

This is where it is

then to get the 'regular' 30 day extension you can go anytime before your current stamp runs out BUT if you're going to try to get the 60 day covid extension (which they might or might not let you get) you have to go by close of business this Friday the 29th of Jan
