Is immigration division 1 the place where you can extend your tourist visa. I'm on the 30 day visa exemption scheme. Has anybody successfully done this recently?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation clarifies that tourists on a 30-day visa exemption should not go to Immigration Division 1 for visa extensions. Instead, they must visit the Muang Thong Thani Immigration office in Bangkok for this process.

seeing as you did NOT buy a tourist visa from a thai consulate in your country before you come here but just showed up and were stamped in free for 30 days you are NOT on a tourist visa (or a visa on arrival) but on what's called a 30 day visa exempt entry.

In Bangkok like

correctly stated you would go to the Muang Thong Thani Immigration office

Here is where it is,

If you entered on visa exempt, you will do your extension at the Muang Thong Thani office.
