Which embassy is recommended for a Dutch family applying for DTV in Asia?

What embassy do you recommend in this situation:

- Family of 4, Dutch nationality, already in Thailand for almost 6 months. We want to apply for DTV in the next few weeks. Somewhere in Asia, doesn’t really matter where…but we think chances are better in a embassy, not with e-visa.

- Long term rental contract available until 15th January (extendable).

- We are both business owners (not freelance) and can work fully remote. We have invoices, client contracts, notary approved documents of the founding of our companies (both 50/50 owners). We can provide any document with company stamp, etc.

Also company balances available with over €100k in reserves.

- Only thing is: we do not have bank statements with 500.000 Baht for longer than 1 month. Both parents have the 500.000 Baht in their private accounts, but it is there for around 3-6 weeks. We keep our reserves not on our checking accounts but invest or keep in our companies. I know they do not approve crypto, but we can also provide a substantial amount in crypto portfolios.

We can provide bank statements for 6 months showing what we paid for during our travels in Thailand. We spend about €5000-€6000 a month on rent, shopping, hotels, groceries in Thailand.

We are thinking about going to Taipei because the processing seems quick. Would you recommend both parents apply for the DTV at once? Or one parent gets the DTV and other parent and kids apply later as dependents?

Thanks for tips and suggestions!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Dutch family residing in Thailand for nearly six months is looking to apply for a DTV visa at an embassy in Asia, preferring Taipei due to its quick processing times. They plan to provide extensive financial documents to demonstrate their ability to support themselves, despite not having the required bank balance in their personal accounts for over a month. Community suggestions emphasize that Taipei's embassy might be more lenient on recent deposits. They are considering applying together as a family or sequentially, with one parent and then the other with the children as dependents. Other experiences shared point to timely approvals in similar situations.

I am Dutch, similar case but no kids.I did it in Phnom Penh. But you need to be quick as the embassy is going over to e-visa.

you can apply in your home country online, just make sure you are out of Thailand

yes, but I do not want to. It’s an e-visa system, takes too long and I want to travel to my home county another time, not right now. So anywhere in Asia is fine for me, I think Taipei is rather quick and easy.

Anonymous participant took 2 days here in Canada, very easy and very fast, they are all going to E-Visa system soon

in Europe it can take up to 4 weeks depending on the country. I don’t want to spend fall in Europe. 😊 Taipei is not on e-visa, so easier and we have to leave Thailand for a short while anyway.

Anonymous participant wow I guess I’m lucky that I was able to apply in Canada, it was a very easy process. They even called me when there was a problem and helped me out, I couldn’t have asked for better service at the consulate in Vancouver Canada.

We just finished in Taipei as a family of 4. My husband applied first, he got approved at 4pm the same day, then the kids and I applied the next morning as dependants, had to come back at 4pm that day to find out if we were approved or not then paid the fee when approved. We then pick up on the next business day at 4pm.

We provided 6 months bank statements but we have more than 500K for the whole 6 months.

Base on other people’s experiences, you may be fine having the funds sitting there for just a month.

Let me know if you have any other questions, happy to help!

thanks for your reply! That sounds promising. Quick question: do you have to make an appointment at the embassy? Or is it walk in?
Joyce ****
Anonymous participant it is just walk in between 9-11:30 ! But not to worry because this hidden gem is not busy at all! ESP compared to the Laos and KL one. Go onto their website to get the visa application form and there is also an authorization form to fill out for minor children obtaining visa (really short form) on top of the application form.

Funnily enough their visa application form says "Manila, Philippines" but it's bilingual, in English and traditional Chinese, so seems to be the correct form.

I asked another group member about this as well, but apparently it is the correct form 😆

Taipei only requires to show current balance has the 500k baht (each) not an ongoing balance over time. Move money into your accounts to have the funds. Take the other balances as extra info if you want.

They will also look at your bank statement to see the income coming in to show you can support yourself.

Finally, you will want to write a letter from your company to describe what you do and that you work remotely.

do you have any idea when taipei is going to change online e-visa?
Klee **************
@Jared ********
I tried writing a letter, I own my own business and do all my work online, it did not work, I applied under "soft power activities" and was approved in 2 days, very easy, my wife got her DTV in 1 day

Hey man, I was wondering what cooking class you took. Mind sharing the school? Thanks!
Klee **************
@Tuatini *******
I did not use cooking class, I didn’t really have to do anything, I just asked my dentist for a letter, with details stating what work I was going to be getting done, that was all I needed
Tuatini ********
Oh wow ok, gtk thanks
@Klee *************
. Did you also apply from Taipei?
Klee **************
@Tuatini *******
no, Vancouver

I did the letter and it worked easily. Maybe it is related to the type of company or the content of the letter...

But whatever works!

Anonymous participant you don't need visa for your kids, there is no punishment until they are 15 years old.

yes, but we will be enjoying our 5 years in Thailand and feel free to travel in and out whenever we want. I know kids can not overstay, but I feel it is better to be 100% ok with the rules and not take advantage of the hospitality of this visa. After all it is only a small investment for getting 5 years of freedom here.
Siggi *******
Anonymous participant you are free to travel and it doesn't impact anyone with anything. There is no difference if they have the visa or don't have the visa. You don't have to look after 90 days reports for the kids,

money must be liquid in your own named account the duration seems to vary day by day by embassy.
