Hello again! Got my husband and daughter approved for their DTV’s as dependents via the Washington DC embassy.

Here is my original post for when I got approved:

[members only]/?

September 6 - submitted their applications

September 23rd - requested my marriage certificate, passports of both mother and father, and flight itinerary with all of our names on it.

I had already submitted our marriage certificate but I guess they missed it so I resubmitted.

I had already submitted my passport but I resubmitted with mine and my husbands.

I had already submitted the flight itinerary so I resubmitted.

Our situation was a little crazy. We are taking our dogs with us and our original flight was Tuesday, September 24th. Dogs got denied boarding (story for a different time), and so we had to rebook our flights to tonight, September 27th.

September 24th - my husbands visa got approved but we didn’t hear back about my daughters visa.

September 25th - request for more info for our daughter. They wanted an updated flight itinerary because they “can’t approve a visa for anyone currently in Thailand” because according to our original itinerary we were already there. I resubmitted our updated itinerary and wrote a kind cover letter explaining what happened and then something to the effect of, “My visa and my husbands visa have been approved already. I appreciate the expedited nature of this application for my daughter so she has no trouble entering with us.”

Hers was approved later that day.

I borrowed money from my mom to have the full $32k in my account for their applications as I wasn’t able to get a clear answer as to if each applicant needed their own 500,000 baht.

For all three of our applications, DC took from 12-16 business days to process.

On our way to the Houston airport to move! ✌️✌️

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their experience in obtaining Dependents' Thai DTV visas for her husband and daughter via the Washington DC embassy. She provided a timeline of their application process, noting key dates and required documents, including a marriage certificate and updated flight itinerary. Despite some complications regarding their dogs' travel, both visas were approved within 12-16 business days. The post also sparked a discussion about joint accounts and tax return requirements.

Did you have to provide tax returns in order to get approved?

I did not.

thank you for all of that detailed information. I have a question about the dogs. Were you trying to check in the dogs as cargo or travel with the dogs under your seat? Which airline were you using? We are looking at transporting our dogs and as you know, it is a very complicated process. How did the dogs end up doing with the travel? TIA!

I'm confused.. maybe you can help. Were you already in thailand when it got approved or did you apply before coming....then added your husband and daughter?

So originally our flight was for September 24th and neither my husbands or my daughters visas were approved yet. My husbands happened to get approved the 24th but my daughters was still pending. On the 24th, we got denied boarding because of the dog issues. Had we gotten on the flight and been in Thailand when Washington DC sent that email, I would have had to have taken my daughter out of Thailand, resubmitted paperwork showing a new flight, and then waited for approval before re-entering.

But because we didn’t actually fly out in the 24th and had to rebook, we wound up flying out on the 27th, her visa was approved on the 26th and we got to avoid having to leave Thailand just to get approved.

ok I get it now…So that means because we are already here… my son and husband would have to leave Thailand in order for me to add them to my DTV

Yeah exactly. If you guys are already there though I think a lot of people just take a two or three day trip to the country they’re going to apply in. I think DC has one of the longest processing times.

Thank you!

Great info and congratulations. From what I gathered on the Thai Embassy website. The $32k would not have been necessary if you all had a joint account.
