TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has received approval for their DTV visa from the Thai Embassy in New Delhi and seeks advice on where to do the 90-day reporting in Pattaya. Comments indicate Jomtien Immigration is a common location for this process, and it's noted that some jurisdictions allow online reporting after the initial in-person visit. Additional discussion covers the documentation required for the DTV visa application and experiences with the approval timeline.

Todd McGowan it doesn't say anywhere when you apply for DTV about 90 days reporting. If im wrong, then please show me. I have friends that got the DTV but has not been told about the 90 day report. I know other visas require it. But this is a new visa

The embassy / consulate is never going to tell you about doing 90 day reporting as this is from a separate entity : immigration. When you get a visa, you don't get told by someone to do 90 day reporting if you stay 90 days or more because not everyone stays 90 days. Its just knowledge that you need to be aware of. I learned about it from my landlord because as soon as I rented she had to do a TM30 for the reporting. I agree that it would be nice to be told but not being told or claiming ignorance of the rule is not an excuse for not abiding by it.

Maybe its like getting a driving license and saying "well no one told me I couldn't drive through a stop light" lol, maybe a bad analogy but kinda similar.

it doesn’t need to Simon. The law in Thailand is 90 day reporting.

Only LTR visa holders are exempt.

The quote i posted there is from the DTV literature. It’s very clear

you have to do 90 day but it may never come up if you don't want to do an extension and don't need anything else from immigration as they don't check 90 day reports at the airport.

Personally I'd do them just to stay 100% legal.

of course you do. Every one has to do a 90 day report if you live in Thailand, under all visas.

Not under all visas. Some BOI and LTR you do not. It is once a year.

read the law. It states this "The Immigration Act,B.E.2522,the foreigner who has received a temporary stay permit and stayed in the Kingdom of Thailand over 90 days must notify his/her residence to immigration officer every 90 days.". So, I don't know BOI and LTR - but they might not be considered temporary stay permits, but the DTV most definitely is a temporary stay permit since its a 180 day permit. Assume you need to do reporting because of this.

Depending on the Visa Type there are other incentives on BOI or LTR. For example one BOI Visa has a flat rate of tax of 15%. The Smart S Visa it is 27%. LTR you are not taxed on global income brought into Thailand. All part of incentive packages for FDI and Global Talent

I can assure you there are BOI and LTR Visas where you do not have to do 90 days reports. They are not permanent and are temporary. It is part of the incentive package. Get to know all visa types before making blanket statements?

I never disputed it. What I'm saying is that those are not temporary stay permits. The DTV is which is why it falls under the immigration act.

Of course they are temporary stay permits. They are not PR and are issued for a specific period of time ie temporary.

ok you seem to know it all, replying is futile and not making any progress on this issue. Report or don't report - I don't care lol. I will be reporting because as I see the immigration act, I have to report. You do you.

It seems to be unclear at the moment. There is nothing official it would seem so opinions are both ways. If not officially "Exempt" like some BOI Visas then I would say immigration would want it - might be a nice little earner :-)

180 days so at 90 have to do the check in? When I was working never needed to do it as travelled so much but it is not that much of a chore. Jomtien do it very quickly in person - I reckon they see it as a chore with no return on their investment in time

As above Jomtien but it can be done online after first one in person. However, the system is often down. No matter the in person process is simple and quick. I have never waited more than 20 minutes and use the opportunity to shop locally :-)

Just get there early ie before 9am and you are out by 9:30 at latest. It is a chore but it has to be done. I did not have to do it previously when working as I travelled often. It resets every time you leave the country and return.
