Hi friends,

I am currently in Thailand and want to apply for a Non-B visa soon, so I need to leave the country and go to a Thai embassy somewhere else for the application. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Do you know where is the most convenient to go to (in terms of cost, easy process with the embassy and time it takes to get the visa)?

Grateful for your advice and experience! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user in Thailand is seeking advice on the best location to apply for a Non-B visa, specifically looking for recommendations based on cost, ease of the application process at the embassy, and the time required to obtain the visa. Commenters suggest nearby countries such as Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia as good options, and note that the process may vary depending on the user's employer's arrangements with consulates.

Go to Laos for two days and re enter Thailand.

Depends a bit where you are in the country. Cambodia, Laos or Malaysia etc are all pretty good options.

Documents from the company to the consulate would need to be addressed specifically to which ever one you choose.

thanks for your response! Do you know if there are any differences in the requirements? I heard in Nepal for example you need to show proof of 500k THB in your account for the last 6 months and so on... ๐Ÿคฏ

You are talking about requirements for a DTV visa. Non-B has no money in the bank requirement anywhere.

No, this was apparently the requirement for Non-B at the Nepal embassy (each embassy has different requirements...) But thanks for pointing out ๐Ÿ™

Has your employer advised you to do it this way? Some companies have contacts with immigration to enable this in-country

@Jim *******
The amount of paperwork to do an in country Non B is astronomical. Most companies canโ€™t or wonโ€™t provide the necessary paperwork.

Usually at a nearby consulate itโ€™s only a few documents needed.

My lady's company does it all in-country, but this is a large multinational with the right connections at immigration

I have changed companies multiple times over last 24 years and never had to leave, if you are working for BOI type companies the rules are implemented little differently

Changing companies has nothing to do with converting from tourist to non-B in Thailand. One is a simple matter while the other requires hundreds of pages of documents.

op makes no mention of being on a tourist visa.. Simply states in Thailand and trying to get onto a B

exactly.... converting from tourist to non-B in Thailand requires hundreds of pages of documents. Changing companies is simple. So your experience of changing companies isn't relevant.

no mention of a tourist visa.. As I said. ๐Ÿ‘‡

what do you expect they are on then? Since 99.

99% of people that want to convert to non-B are on tourist status?

Thatโ€™s great but very few companies are able to do this. Itโ€™s staggering the amount of usually in the hundreds or so. Obviously if one has connections it may be easier.
