Hi everyone, I don't know if it is just me but non B applications are becoming more difficult. I did non B 4 months ago in KL and now they don't do it for South Africans anymore. I went to Penang 2 weeks ago with exactly the same documents and he said I need another one, so I came back on visa on arrival which I will extend to buy me more time, I will have to go for a tourist because my paper will not be ready yet. So the question is, where should I go? Laos, Vietnam? I don't like Malaysia so I would prefer to skip that option. Thanx in advance..

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat discusses the difficulties encountered in applying for a Non-B visa from South Africa, specifically mentioning challenges faced in Penang, Malaysia. They seek advice on alternative locations for their visa application, expressing a preference to avoid Malaysia. Comments offer insights into documentation requirements for work permits, the possibility of applying for visas locally in Thailand, and potential visa-free entry options to Vietnam and Laos.
First of all, you do NOT work. You do not have a work permit and the correct visa. Go to Ministry of Labor or sent a representative of the school, ask to apply for WP using form 3, make all the copies, hand them in and you get confirmation letter and application in progress papers, than see if Immigration can help, otherwise you have to visit a consulate again.
I was suppose to get my work permit with the last non B, but as I said they wanted another document. I know Penang to be like this I have heard many stories and now it happened to me.
They said I need a letter from the provincial education department, and they need my toeic to get that document. I am only writing my toeic 18 Nov that takes a week to retur and then this other document takes 1 month... That is what I have been told. So I am not sure about these facts.
It sounds strange to me, had Non B for 3 months and now waiting for another 4 months to get 1 photo copy. 7 months to apply for a WP is a very long time, 7 days is the normal time.
Just a thought: If you have a Work Permit and a Non B visa, you can extend your admitted to stay at local Immigration with 1 year if you meet the requirements. That means you do not have to leave the country every 90 days and get new Non B visa. You went to Penang with same papers as KL but they need another one? So 1 paper needed and now after 2 months you have to go to get a tourist visa for another 2 months just because one photocopy? And I hope you understand that at the moment with the Visa Exempt Entry plus Extension and later with the Tourist Visa you are not allowed to work.
