Hi apologies if this was posted already, I searched and couldn't find this specific question - basically wondering about the timing for when to make your 60 day COVID extension application. My 30 day tourist extension runs out on Nov 27, I've heard that they start the date of the COVID extension when you get it (ie not after the first 45 / 60 days runs out as with the tourist extension)? So in terms of how many days left when do people approximately apply for the COVID extension? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the optimal timing to apply for a 60-day COVID extension for their visa in Thailand, as their current 30-day tourist extension expires on November 27. They want to clarify whether the COVID extension starts from the date of approval or after the expiration of the tourist extension. Responses suggest applying before November 26 to maximize time under the extension, as the last application date is November 26.
If you want to care about 1 or 2 days, you can apply for Covid extension on 26th Nov at the latest (and I guess you may need to plan to spend a whole day at MTT then)

The last day you can apply for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 is November 26. I recommend applying for that extension of stay sometime before November 26th to maximize your amount of time here.
I highly doubt the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 will be extended further, and any comments making that suggestion will be deleted outright.
right, thanks. I guess I am wondering would it better to apply next week (in which case the 60 days would start from then from what I understand) or it better to wait until the last minute (ie the 25th for example) to maximize time and hope that there are no issues and that I get approved? From what I understand they initially give you 15 days, then you return for the remainder if approved? Just don't want any issues while trying to max things out.

It'll be best for you to wait until the 25th to maximum your time

You're referring to the "under consideration" stamp. The amount of time on this stamp varies between immigration offices, and may be between 7 to 30 days. The "under consideration" stamp is a "temporary extension of stay". When you close it out, you will get the balance of your time ๐
