TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending their 60-day tourist visa in Thailand, which is expiring soon. They seek advice on whether to apply for a tourist visa extension or a Covid-visa. Comments suggest that a regular 30-day extension can first be applied, and experiences with different immigration offices vary. It's noted that the Covid extension is typically available only when no other extension options exist.

What if come on a 30 day visa can you do the covid extension? I just need to do it until my wife gets her thai iD and passport sorted and then we can start the marriage visa in while being Thailand.

Depends on which immigration you go to, and who’s working, I went to the Nong Khai one yesterday and only asked for 30 days but the guy gave me 60 days 🤷🏻 being polite when there certainly doesn’t hurt

You can only apply for a covid extension if you don't have any other extension options. You'll need to do the regular 30 day extension first.

Do you happen to know the process if coming off a PE visa ? ( Thai Elite etc )- do you need to apply for the 30 day extension First ? before a Covid extension application 🤔

There isn't a 30 day extension for a PE visa.

Thats why I asked as we have seen reports of others having difficulty when ending the Thai Elite Visa 5 years. Surprising as it is...one would think TE visa card members would get priority in this situation.

difficulty in moving to a other visa From the PE you mean ??

It seems I will need to exit and return before I can apply for a non O - which is kind of nonsense given that the non O can be applied for within Thailand

TIT unfortunately 😁😁

that is what I am referring to...for whatever reason TE is making it difficult 😢😢

Have you asked about the COVID extension?

If no other alternative inside Thailand.. Then I see a tourism trip to Cambodia for a week to obtain a new tourist visa at the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh.

I guess they don't want to make it easy to apply for the main alternative ( the non O )🤔

I will go to immigration and apply for the Covid extension on monday ( unless there is word it is being continued )

Is a week or so in Cambodia the easiest option currently ??? ( to exit and return etc )

not true, depends on which immigration office you use, I was on 60 day tourist visa and was given 60 days extra even tho asking for 30 as that’s all I needed
