2 Quick questions...

1. Once issued with a 60 day tourist visa at any consulate, are the 60 days valid upon entry or upon issue??

I know Indian visa's are upon issue, which is doesn't make sense...

1. Has any one had any negative or difficult experiences with the Thai consulate in Kathmandu

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 60-day tourist visa for Thailand becomes valid upon entry into the country, not at the time of issue. This means that once you enter Thailand using the visa issued at a consulate, you will be stamped for a 60-day stay. Additionally, experiences with the Thai consulate in Kathmandu indicate that there may be variations in processing and strictness compared to other consulates.

I have had a couple of 30 day visa on arrivals already this year for Thailand and wondered if they are stricter than others. From what I read on here there are a couple of consulates that are stricter than others

you didn't have any 30 day visa on arrivals :/ There is no such thing. IF you showed up here without having bought a visa from a thai consulate and were stamped in for free for 30 days you got in on a 30 day visa exempt entry.

There are not enough people who go there to tell you whether they're strict in Katmandu or not

Meet these requirements at the thai consulate in Katmandu and get the visa it seems like

I meant visa's for entering India are valid from issue, I am a UK citizen.

I am going to apply for the 60 day Thai visa in Nepal before travelling India for a couple of months and just wanted to check the visa starts upon arrival in Thailand.

Indian nationals BUY a 15 day visa-on-arrival <- it has that catchy name because they get it when they arrive in thailand NOT from a consulate before they come here. (NOTE: right now 15 day visa on arrivals for people from 18 countries are FREE until April 2020)

Okay, a single entry tourist visa is valid for 90 days from the date it's issued <- which means you have 90 days to ENTER thailand when you will get stamped in for 60 days (like everyone does on a valid tourist visa)
