TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on visa options for their Filipina girlfriend to stay in Thailand permanently while they hold a retirement visa. Comments suggest multiple possibilities, including obtaining a dependent visa if the user's status changes, applying for a Non-B visa through employment, pursuing an education visa for language or cultural studies, or considering long-term visa options. It was also noted that Thai immigration does not recognize 'girlfriend' as a valid basis for visa applications.

I was just thinking if he could claim her a common law and if it's possible..what do I know?I only know Canadian law. Since I'm Canadian.. That's why we have this group for information for people like me who iare not too sure about Thai immigration rule, right? Btw, which category does not grant a trailing spouse visa, I hope not DTV..
she cannot get a dependent visa on a DTV holder without at least being married to him π

My WIfe is also a Filipina and under 50, she's doing a 6 month Ed Visa first and then will 'follow' me on my retirement visa as my spouse, not sure if this option is available for a GF though?
most embassies and consulates and immigration have discontinued issuing Non-Imm-O trailing spouse visa for a dependent of a holder of a Non-Imm-O visa. SOME embassies allow it if you as the main visa holder got a Non-Imm-O/A visa. You will soon find out
what is the "follow me" option? I thought my foreign wife would have to apply and meet the same standards that I do. Can she piggy back my retirement visa?
Do you know where you will apply for your wife to follow you. If you are on a Non-O for retirement theres very few places issuing this. Certainly not inside Thailand or surrounding countries
That's what I was told too but I used an Agent for my Wife's Ed visa and did my retirement visa myself and whilst talking to the very helpful Immigration officers they were the ones that told us we could do this and how so that's probably the best thing to do, speak to them.
I know some folks and they've been doing that since they've opened for covid (out every 3 months) and never got an issue. People cannot say this but I've heard there are helpers at the airport that will help you get through the passport check for a small fee if u got that apec card....

She could get a job in Thailand and stay on a Non B.
You could purchase a privileged visa for 5 or 10 or 20 years.
She could get an education Visa to study Thai or cooking or Muay Thai.
it's going to be interesting to see what immigration does with these DTV visas once they start coming up for renewal. It may be the case that you have to visit a foreign embassy on every 180 day bounce.
