Hi all, I in Thailand on a Retirement Visa, no problems. My Philippine Fiancee has been with me on an Ed Visa and subsequent 60 day Tourist Visa.

Normally we do a Land crossing into Laos by car but on the last try she was only allowed 30 days on entry with a letter of invitation from me.

We decided our time was running out so my Fiancee has returned home in the hopes of returning later by air. In the mean time the only option we appear to have is for both of us to leave Thailand for pastures anew.

How can my fiancee return without applying for another ED Visa, even she has been offered the advanced Thai language course at Chang Mai University (CMU).

Looking for other options.

The conversation highlights several suggestions such as getting married to secure a dependent visa, exploring options to enroll in a university for a Bachelor’s degree at Chiang Mai University, and considering long-term visa options like the Thai Elite Visa.

Thanks for your suggestion Chris. My first option was Marriage here in Thailand but complications with Philippine laws have given us a problem.

Can you say why Hong Kong is a preferred location for marriage. We will probably have another shot at marriage.

you dont need an Agent, it is only less stress :) - take care : you have to wait for every legalisation about 2 days. First : Marriage ( you have to be 2-3 days before at the Marriage Hall to apply again personal) than to the Highcourt for the Stamp . Takes one day when you say you need it fast. Than do the rest.

my fiancee has already applied for a new CENOMAR. I have a certified copy of my Divorce from the UK which is now almost 18 months old already. I tend to research the requirements and do the legwork myself instead of using an agent.

To marry in Hkg is easy because of the requiered documents. She needs Passport and Single Paper ( Document that says that she is not married or devorced )= Cenomar. She can apply online easy. Takes about 2 weeks to get. You need your Passport and - if you devorced : the english translation from the devorce contract. The marriage is valid worldwide because of the Haager Apostile. You get a translation of this marriage certificate to Thai, than get a stamp from the Thai Consulat. Also make registration at the Phil Consulat in Hkg. All can be done in about 10 days. We used an Agency , they guide us and walk everywhere with us, - was about 33.000 Baht. So it was very easy to find everything and we had a perfect time shedule.

My wife is Philippina, she was here with ED Visa, than we married in Hongkong. Now she has Dependent Visa. Hkg is the easiest way .

I agree about the Elite Visa being the way to go. I have met guys here who were married to a Thai lady, but still had an Elite Visa because it is far easier and less drama to get an Elite Visa to stay long term.

Thailand does not offer many long stay options for people under 50 years of age, not working, not married with a Thai National or with a foreigner who has long stay inside Thailand. It will be the Thai Elite Visa for 5, 10 or 20 years, an ED visa for University degree but that means spending time on University and study, Volunteer work with Non Immigrant O visa and Work Permit. Or the investment visa with the support of Board of Investment.

She might not even be allowed to leave the Philippines with the visa history she has... I suggest we get you married and get her a visa dependent on yours. ED visas are not long term visas.

1. Get married...2. Get Chiang Mai University to assist in getting her Ed Visa to earn Bachelors degree...four years. 3. Ask language schools for assistance with Thai language advanced course...if she has learned basic Thai already. Good luck.
