UPDATE: She got stamp corrected at the airport, today. Thanks everyone for your comments 😊

.

A friend of mine entered on her ED Visa for the first time thru' CNX airport. The IO stamped Non-RE instead of Non-ED. It was on 2nd of October and we just today found out that the stamp is incorrect.

Kindly advise which immigration office she should go to fix the issue.

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user has an issue with an incorrect entry stamp received on their ED Visa upon entering Thailand. The stamp was made as 'Non-RE' instead of 'Non-ED'. After seeking advice from the community, they learned that the stamp may still be valid, but there is concern about potential complications for extensions. The consensus among commenters is that it’s advisable to return to the airport where the stamp was issued for correction, ensuring no future issues arise. An update indicates the stamp was corrected at the airport.

Is it a 1 year multiple entry visa or a 90 day visa. What's the valid until or enter before date on the visa?
Amir *********
Return back to the airport immediately. They will correct the problem. I’ve experienced this

Go back to the airport and get it fixed there ,,here you will get 100 different answers ,,airport will give you the definite answer

For me I think it’s the correct stamp but if you are not sure go back and ask the officer also remark to see the visa type on page 13 as well.

The question is, what is the "until date" on the stamp of the current visa or extension ?

The "non-re" stamp indicates that the individual has entered Thailand on a Non-Immigrant visa type and has a re-entry permit. Some users expressed confusion over its meaning, suggesting it isn't an exempt stamp that allows for an extended stay.

Non-re means you have reentry permit. I always have that wordings

Once upon a time I was on an Non-Ed 1 year extension with a multiple re-entry permit. I just checked my passport and the three times I left and re-entered Thailand they stamped me back in with 'Non-RE', so it doesn't mean retirement. If you're friend doesn't have a re-entry permit then they made a mistake. I wouldn't worry about it. How could someone on a new visa possibly be expected to spot the mistake at the airport. Most people commenting don't know what Non-RE means.

I had the same stamp when I was on an ED visa. No issues after that.

You have the correct amount of days for an initial non-imm entry the 're' means re-entry They have stamped you in for the correct amount of time, but for the wrong reason. I would still go back to the airport to get it corrected to stop any problems when and if they come to extend.

@Lloyd *******
the RE means re-entry and anyone who has an extension (Non-O, Non-B, Non-ED) with a re-entry permit gets a Non-RE stamp when you enter the country,

@Tod ********
OK, so how does a brand new visa have a re-entry permit? Or is that the mistake?
Tod *********
@Lloyd *******
yep, bad stamp just like you pointed out in the beginning (y) Should have been Non-ED
Mat *********
it is 90 days and correct.

Non-RE = non-immigration re-entry. Stamp is likely fine as it even references the actually visa (p-13) but if you truly want to get it changed you need to go back to the airport she stamped in at

Brandon is right as always... Non-RE means non immigration reentry, No one is putting non-RE as a non-o retirement, if it was a non-o retirement it would say Non-O, not non-RE, which means non-immigration reentry nothing less and nothing more and is only used as a reference for all non-immigration reentry permits 🤦
Brandon ************
@Lloyd *******
re means any re-entry for non-immigrant, not just retirement.
Lloyd ********
@Brandon ***********
How the hell could she have a re-entry permit on a brand new, never used visa?!
Brandon ************
@Lloyd *******
it's obviously an incorrect stamp. But "Non-RE" means non-immigrant re-entry, it has nothing to do with retirement.
Lloyd ********
@Brandon ***********
No it does not
Lloyd ********
Explain where she bought this re-entry permit you think the 're' refers to. At the embassy? At the local supermarket? On the street corner? Think about it for just one moment.

@Lloyd *******
you are a moderator and still clueless? There is no such thing as non re visa. Retirement is non O

Read the op, first entry on a new VISA!
Max *********
I might be wrong, but I think this is non immigrant re-entry stamp? And stamped in until the last day of the extension of stay?
