Can I apply for a retirement visa extension in Bangkok after moving from Nonthaburi?

My visa (non-O for retirement) was issued in Nonthaburi province, and then extended there for one year.

Now I am living in Bangkok. I have registered my address at BKK immigration and have done a 90 day report there. Will I be able to get a new extension at Bangkok next year?

They refused to do my extension earlier this year because my visa had been issued in another province.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, holding a Non-O retirement visa issued in Nonthaburi, is seeking advice about applying for a visa extension in Bangkok after having relocated. Previous attempts at extension were denied due to the visa's original province of issue. The comments highlight that, with proper address registration in Bangkok and compliance with reporting and financial requirements, the user should be eligible to apply for the extension at the Bangkok immigration office.

Exactly as I would have thought. Everything required - yes, everything you mentioned and more - was in place, and I was totally confident of receiving the extension. But the door was slammed in my face just because of the place of issue of the visa. I am now permitted to stay until 3 April 2020.

Roberta Anne Young was an agent involved in your previous extension at Nonthaburi at any stage?

@Rob****
you're a LONG way off from needing a new extension, so let's not start jumping to conclusions just yet. ;)

I'd say IF you are denied you need to tell them you want to file an appeal (which is the right of anyone denied an extension EXCEPT people denied a 30 day extension on a 30 day visa exempt entry ;) _

Thanks. Yes, I will do as you say, and if I am refused again I will have to come back here and ask "what now?"

well, then I'd say KEEP doing your 90 day reporting, make sure IF you do move you file a new TM.30 and see what happens in the middle of Feb in 2020 (45 days early is the soonest you can apply for a new yearly extension at Chaengwattana).

Good Luck..

, something isn't right then :/

As long as you've filed a TM.30 (stating you now live IN Bangkok), have been doing your 90 day reporting at Chaengwattana, meet the financial requirements, and turn in the correct documentation you should be able to apply for your yearly extension at that office.

I mean you're NOT the first foreigner to move to bangkok from another province on an existing extension which you got in the province you used to live in.

When does your current extension expire?

No, I registered my address before applying for the extension. They still refused, and sent me back to Nonthaburi, where I was also initially refused because I had moved out of the province.

Sure I did. The day after I moved in to the new place. And I had the receipt to show them. Still do.

did you file a TM.30?

Yes, I had the receipt in my passport when I applied, and it was already 2 months since I had registered. All my paperwork had been accepted, until someone higher up noticed that my visa was from another province, and then I was rejected.

I am very anxious to find a way to stop this happening again next time I apply

Maybe your address change in BKK hadn’t made it into the database yet. Do you have a receipt confirming the BKK address change?

Now that your address is registered in Bangkok, they will allow you to apply for the Extension of Stay. I guess you registered your address after you asked for this extension of stay and got refused.
