What should I do to renew my Marriage Visa after moving to Phuket without a local bank branch?

Hi all, I must renew my 1 year Marriage Visa (Thai spouse) for the second time on Dec 1st, but at this time I just moved from Bangkok to Phuket.

My main concern is that my long term 400k bank deposit is at Citibank Bangkok and I´ve been checking there is no Citibank branches here in Phuket.

In CW I had some issues if I didn´t bring the bank statement -Citibank doesn´t issue bank book- in the same day, but here in Phuket, I am afraid a same day statement is not viable.

- Any recommendations about how to proceed?

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user needs to renew their Marriage Visa (Thai spouse) while having moved from Bangkok to Phuket, where Citibank does not have a branch. They are concerned about obtaining a bank statement for the renewal process. Various comments suggest the importance of having the bank statement and offer alternatives, including opening a local bank account in Phuket or providing alternative proof of funds. It's clarified that for the marriage extension, only two months of funds need to be shown. Additionally, advice is provided on visiting the correct immigration office in Phuket for the extension process, as well as documentation requirements.

And anyone from Phuket could say which one is the right immigration office I should go for "Extend Marriage -Thai Spouse- Visa"? I have seen what seems 2 locations in Phuket. Thanks!!

This is what you need for documentation:

The full-service office (including Extend Marriage-Thai Spouse) is the Phuket Town Immigration Office, Room 103, enter from outside on the ground floor just past the drive-through window. There are fixed chairs outside for waiting and usually an immigration officer is stationed outside to check you have all the necessary paperwork.

The Patong Immigration Office is mostly for servicing short-term visitors (tourists) and while they do 90-day reports and certificates of residence, they do not do long-term extensions and in general they do not like to see holders of long-term extensions. I highly recommend the Phuket Town Immigration office, which in this case is the only one you can use. There is also a satellite office in Blue Tree for the north of the island but it is also only able to handle short-term visitors not someone looking for a long-term extension.

One question I have booked appointment via Queq. For this case would it be correct "Type of Transaction" = "Thai Family"? There are 8 options but I am not sure if I could be rejected once I go there because the Type of Transaction doesn´t match (Extend Marriage -Thai Spouse- Visa)

Sorry I didn't notice that you are on an extension based on marriage and you only need to show the money in the account for 2 months (no other seasoning). I deleted my earlier comments (which also deleted the replies sorry)

Related to this, I am not confident about TM30 due to it has been updated with new location info in Phuket. Could this info being verified in case I pretend keep Bangkok data and proceed at CW?

DO NOT pretend you're still in Bangkok I suggested that when I thought you were getting a retirement extension because they're issued on the spot.

A marriage extension you get a 30 day under consideration stamp and they can come check you at your address during that 30 days. DO NOT do the "pretend I'm in Bangkok" idea 😮

I don´t know how Phuket Immigration works in terms of flexibility. If the key point/ essence of the rule is to prove you keep that money for long term in a local bank which has been done... If I expose this case in person with my wife: Could be a chance of being proposed any alternative such us transfer those founds from Citibank to another bank account of mine a t the time and amount they could request and showing both statements, or showing atm receipt with the balance amount at that day and showing the estatment afterwards (with same amount..) or ... etc? Or am I too naive perhaps?

Thanks for your suggestion , Tod. I think it is the most reasonable way. Cheers.

the key point is that the funds are in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for your extension.

SO if you open a new account and transfer the funds into it there's no way it'll be in that account for 2 months.

AND

There's no telling if the immigration office will take proof that you had it in your citibank account before that or not.

You need to GO and talk to them to see what they will accept and you need to go do it soon seeing as you're only 12 days from your extension being due

@Tod ********
can he open up a new bank account in Phuket now and still get his marriage extension Dec 1st ?
Tod *********
@James *******
nope that won't fly because he needs the money in an account for 2 months and even if he transfers the funds from the Citi-bank account to his new thai bank account they're going to say the "seasoning chain was broken" and not allow it

@Tod ********
thank you.

That's a problem for you...you will need the one year bank statement record of your account.

And as Citibank only has one bank in Thailand...will be an ongoing problem for you.

You should have obtained the one year extension before you moved to Phuket.
