Hi everyone

I’ve just realized that the officer stamped me from June 7th to August 5th (instead of 6 months) for the DTV. Do you think it matters and I should reach out to the immigration or their online system knows that it’s a 6 months stay ? If I can avoid flying out in the next weeks it’d be awesome…
Answer summary
A member of the community discovered their DTV visa stamp allowed them to stay until August 5 instead of the expected six months. Several commenters stressed the importance of resolving this issue promptly, as staying beyond the stamped date could lead to overstay penalties. Suggested actions include visiting the local immigration office or returning to the point of entry to fix the stamp. Many shared personal experiences, emphasizing the need to verify the stamp upon arrival to avoid similar issues.

Just to close the debate I went to my local immigration office and they change the date in their system and in my passport ! Thanks for those who helped ! Next time I’ll check right away 😅

that is very good info because some people insist it is only the port of entry that can change it. You have proved that is not the case.

Where's the guy who always says we live in the digital era and do not need to show the DTV as it shows on the IO's screen :D Anyway, does your entry stamp say DTV? If not, then you have to go back to where you entered Thailand and get it corrected. If it says DTV, then you might be able to get the date corrected at a local immigration office. Always check your entry stamp before you leave the passport area, as this is not an isolated incident

Never walk away from the Immigration booth until you've checked the stamp in your passport.

You'd think immigration would have a big sign that says to verify your stamp to make sure the officer didn't make a mistake. 🧐

Multiple entry though is it not?

There are 2 paths:

1: go to your local immigration office and ask them to check the stamp/entry.

If they go into the system and you have been entered as a DTV and it is only a stamp error, they may correct it for you.

2: if the error is that they entered you as a tourist visa exempt in the system then you will have to return to your entry point and have that office/officer fix it.

All depends which is closest, if the entry point is close, go there.

So they scammed an other one…

One job and they fail imagine 🙈

If not this then they start giving metv instead of dtvs. If not they reject people while people apply 1 week later elsewhere with the same documents same money same person and get approved.

I will spend my money in KL and other countries where they actually have common sense and the same rules apply for everyone.

Not a 5 day and approved for a 3h a week cooking class guy.

While someone Else with a remote business has to prove 20 extra things than the actual basic requirements. And even gets doubted or rejected.

I totally understand your frustration. Honestly I am in Vietnam now, and it’s so nice! Come here! The rules are easier.

I think the lesson to be learnt here is when entering Thailand check that its stamped correctly.

I always ask to immigration officer to confirm.

Absolutely it matters. If you want to stay in Thailand longer than August 7th you need to go back to the immigration entry point where you got your incorrect stamp. Go to the immigration supervisors office, and explain the problem to the officer. You will need the copy of your DTV visa. They should correct the exit date for you, and update their system

You should get it fixed at the immigration department where you are registered to live. Bring your passport and TM30. The sooner you do it the better.

You can try your immigration office first they may fix it but properly not you will have to go back to where you were stamped in and get them to correct it or you can just leave before the 5th of August But do not stay longer without doing something about it or your in overstay.

you think wrong! Only the immigration at that port of entry can fix..not local immigration. Different system.

UnforgettablePapaya1740omg. Good catch. Goodness me. I've remembered from passport moving process that is some at immigration office same province (unless it varies with io moods?). But I think that the stamp correction needs to be done at the port of every immigration office indeed

Did you get a DTV visa stamp with 60 days?

If so, this is a technical error, you should most likely just fix it with immigration. Should be immigration office at the province you got your entry stamp at.

Alternatively, he simply gave your a regular tourist visa stamp. In which case it's slightly different. But I think you can still fix it at the immigration office in the same province.

As others have said, get it sorted. It really does matter. There was a guy in Phuket who did not leave the country to get his DTV. He just assumed the DTV being issued through an agent allowed him six months. Well, he had four months' overstay, 90 days + blacklisted, and lost the DTV and banned for a year. I think you can find him on TikTok.

Yes it matters. It also happened to a friend who went to a local immigration (not the original one) and they corrected it. Good luck!

Yes, it matters. You have been stamped in your only 60 days, regardless if you have a DTV, you have to leave Aug 5th or find a way to fix it. Did you show them your DTV visa when you arrived at the airport?

Yes, it matters, if in your passport is written 5th of August, you will have to leave before that date. Always check your stamp at the airport
