Has anyone here had success going in person to the Embassy in Hanoi to clarify or fix an issue with their DTV application?
I got an email asking for more documents
It says ‘ not enough money ‘
but I already submitted 3 months showing over £11,000 (which is above 500,000 THB).
I’m confused to what they’re asking - has anyone experienced this please

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking help regarding a request from the Thai Embassy in Hanoi for additional documentation related to their DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) application. They received an email indicating insufficient funds, despite having submitted bank statements showing over £11,000, which they believed exceeded the required 500,000 THB. Several commenters suggested that the embassy might be using a different exchange rate or currency conversion. Users advised providing clear documentation of current funds, including bank statements and conversion rates to resolve the issue.
On most Thai embassy sites they state exactly how much you need to show in either the local currency, or a currency they specify. When I was helping someone from the UK apply in Vietnam, the amount we used was over the ฿500,000 and we added a note showing the current exchange rate from GBP to baht on that day as we couldn’t expect Thai staff in a Vietnamese embassy to know the exchange rates for a multitude of currencies.
You cant go to the embassy or consulate. Everything is online.
They’ve clearly stated ‘not enough money’ so you’re going to need more.
Today's exchange rate is 43.5 baht to the pound so £11,000 is less than 500k baht. I don't know what rate the embassy uses but it could be a lower rate than this
Anonymous participant as I said I've no idea what exchange rate they use but I'd be very surprised if they look at it daily. Much more likely they just pick what they see as an appropriate exchange rate and just stick with that (no doubt with a bit of cushion for fluctuation). You'd need to ask the embassy what they use
Actually, £11,500 is juuust over the 500,000, and a random currency fluctuation could take it below. Attach a currency conversion from google with your bank statements as well.
Anonymous participant seems like you cut it too close re the 500,000 Thai baht requirement and the exchange rate has created a significant problem for you. This is happening elsewhere too. Hopefully you can get it sorted out for you. 🤞🤞🤞
Personally, I would top up the account to at least £12k to be on the safe side, then resubmit the bank statements along with a currency conversion from today.
Export your July statement up to today from your banking app if you're able to, including the £12k top up. Then combine 3-4 months statements + currency conversion screenshot and send it back to them.
