Hey guys đź‘‹.Has anyone any experience applying for digital nomad visas? My company have requested I have a working visa in Thailand that they will approve if I want to work remotely for a few months.

I am applying on the official Thai visa website. Can the having 500000 tbh in bank be swapped for a couple of months bank statements or do you have to have the 500000 in your bank when applying and on arrival ?

I have all other documentation just do not have 500000 in my account currently. Is there a way around this ? Thanking you ,🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses applying for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand, particularly regarding the requirement of having 500,000 THB in a bank account. Users clarify that DTV applications must originate from outside Thailand and that the bank balance must typically be liquid assets, as investments like crypto are not accepted. Additionally, some embassies may require 3-6 months of bank statements. Alternatives like sponsorship are suggested for those who do not currently meet the financial requirements.

if you employer is based abroad you can apply for the DTV Remote Worker category. You need to follow the requirements for the embassy you are applying at and submit those documents. You need to show the equivalent of 500k THB in your personal bank account and some embassies want 3-6 months of bank statements. If you don't have the funds, you could look at the sponsorship route. The funds have to be a liquid asset crypto and investments are not accepted.

Also, it is a little confusing as well. While the DTV is a remote working visa, the visa itself says “Employment Prohibited”. You would need to explain to your company the reason it says this (actual working for a company in Thailand).

For most people, the DTV visa says “employment Prohibited” in the remarks section. However, if there were other remarks written, such as the passport expiring before end of the 5 year visa, it might not show up.

You can only apply for DTV from offshore Thailand. Check the Thai embassy website from where you are to make application. There should be an email for you to make enquiries. I don't think the Bht500k requirement can be waived but no harm asking the Thai embassy directly.
