TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is applying for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) while living in Vietnam and has concerns about their bank account balance. They currently have 170,000 THB but will deposit an additional 330,000 THB soon. While official guidelines generally require 500,000 THB in the bank for at least three months, some embassies may accept recent deposits if accompanied by strong documentation like proof of remote employment. However, this approach carries some risk, and applicants should research specific embassy practices for the best chance of success.
You'd need to look at posts from the exact embassy you'll apply at to see what worked and what didn't. In some cases they want the complete funds in there for all 3 months, in other cases a top up is fine, in other cases a substantial amount most of the time with a final top up near the application date. Your scenario is dicey, research/search tool the particular embassy and members posts of their experience.
The official guideline is to have 500,000 THB or equivalent in your personal bank account for at least 3 months.
However, we’ve also noticed that some embassies (like in Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia) may accept applications even if the funds were recently deposited — especially if all other documents are strong, including remote job proof and clear income flow.
Still, it’s a bit risky, so if you apply with only a recent deposit, just be prepared for the possibility that they may ask for additional info or reject it.
Anonymous participant 711 this is from the Philippines. It says 3 months of bank statements and then 500,000, but not fully clear in saying you need 500k for all 3 months
As far as I know, the money should be in the bank for at least 3 months, but I’m hearing about people being accepted even without that being the case, so I am confused about it too
i would not use a Thai Bank account as they want the money to come to Thailand and i really dont see how you would have a bank account at this point. Maybe if you had another visa before that allowed you to do it than it would be ok i guess. I would also advise you to apply once the money has been there enough time 3 months but i would do it for 6 months to justify the consular officer you have the means to stay in thailand for 5 years. Good luck
I can speak from experience. I was approved in Hanoi, Vietnam in early May. At the time, my account had around 300,000 THB. I deposited an additional 200,000 THB about two weeks before submitting my application to meet the 500,000 THB requirement.
What I believe matters most is showing consistent account activity. Make sure each deposit is clearly reflected on your bank statements to demonstrate that money is regularly being added to the account.
